have a lot of frustration with my SHOs performance. the wheel shakes driving it and if you get on it from 1st to 2nd the car jerks to the left. Ran codes and one said steering valve stuck open or closed. Is it the pump or valve or a linkage probablem. thanks for viewing:munch:

Have never had any probs w/power steering on my '89's, about 300k miles worth. Havn't heard of many probs at all on the pre vaps steering on the SHO's which includes '89. That's not to say that couldn't be your problem, but it could also be tie-rods, wheel bearing, etc.

You have a suspension problem, most likely.

Check for degraded sub-frame bushings that allow the whole thing to move around, worn ball joints, worn tie rods and ends, and for a busted seat on the front sub-frame where the tension struts attach.

Also check your wheel bearings and verify your tires are balanced.
