Does anyone know where to buy a power antenna that will fit on my 89? I will take the complete antenna or the mast insert. I tried AntennaX, but the fender hole is too big for the 'standard' replacement units out there.
Thanks in advance

yeah, throw me into the mix too with my 92!

my mast slipped since i bought the car in 1999. the motor would just keep spinning. so, i pulled the fuse and have been pushing it up and down manually. UNTIL i forgot to push it down at the car wash last weekend. OH SNAP! ;-)

i guess i should just buy a new mast from these cats, but if those after market power antenna units work, should i just buy the whole shebang, motor and all for $20-$30? or those aftermarket ones suck and just try the mast first?

here's the OEM mast cheap!

Power Antenna

At this point no one makes a complete replacement for the power antenna, thats why you pray that the motor on the antenna still works. The shap of the fender is too steep for all the current replacement antennas out there. I did see a mast replacement for your 92 SHO on ebay (under SHO parts). I have had mine apart and know the plastic feed rack is broke, so I might try the ordering a replacement from the link you provided. THANKS!!!

thanks Tim!

they already shipped my mast too! so, good guys...

hopefully it won't be too much of a PITA to put the new mast in. my motor's had a 6 year hiatus since i pulled the fuse, so it should hopefully be all rested up ;-)

see ya,
Robby

you could always go to the pep boys counter, stick your chest out/lift your nose, and tell them you need an antennae mast for a 1984 corvette.... That is if you think corvettes are cool.

There are posts in the archives on this forum. I don't know about gen I, but it fit my gen II perfectly.

"You can use a Metra GM replacement mast for a Corvette. Part #CK-PWRGM301. About $12 at pepboys. "

Mine mast has been broken since I got the car but the motor still works. I took the broken antenna off but the plastic feed rack thing didnt come with it, more than likely it's still down there, right? And I'm gonna have to get it out of there before I install a new mast, right?

removing the power antenna

yep, you will have to remove the fender liner first, the bracket that holds the antenna on will be under the insulation material that faces your door, on mine there was a flap that was covering the mounting screw on the left side as you face the antenna (under the fender, facing the passenger door). Once the antenna is out you will see the fastner that holds the 'round' cover on, remove it and remove the plastic feed piece that broke off, it is also a good time to add some white grease to the drive gear in the antenna. Of course you will have to remove the nut that holds the antenna on top of the fender, I had a tall socket that slipped over the antenna and fit on the nut.
