The 96 SLO has 15" and I might buy some 89 SHO Basket Weave for snow tire rims. Yeah I know, I should just move ;-)

Anyone know if it's the same bolt pattern?

Thanks

I have seen a '96- Taurus with 15" basketweaves on it. I have no idea how it ended up like that but I believe it'll work. I have a set of 4 basketweaves with BFGoodrich Comp T/A's on them with lots of tread. Interested?

Was it green with NJ plates cuz if it was it was my bros, he bought them off me when i got 17" wheels for my sho. I think it looks really cool. I had eagle hp's i think.on them and he took it the way it was.

Nah I actually know the guy that was driving it. It -was- green, but it was being driven by the mechanic that we use at the dealership I work at. I guess he just used it for a sec when he was working on it.

Yes, they will fit. Every year Tuari, SHO or not, has the same 5x108 bolt pattern. Offset may vary from wheel to wheel slightly, but just about any wheel offered standard should work with any Tauri (save for 15's on the 96+ SHO, because of not having enough clearance for the brakes).

Or maybe he doesn't want my basketweaves, hahaha. Ah well hopefully he got the good news for his '96.

Does anyone see the irony here? People are in demand of the basket weaves on non-SHO taurii...but those of us w/baskets want anything else?

no flames, just found that funny

Yeah, I had a 1989 SHO and did not look forward to cleaning out the spokes on those wheels.

Funny...I was E-mailing a guy from work who is in South Jersey with the same setup Comp T/A's on Basketweaves - is that you? I'm not at work -I'll check tomorrow

Anyway - I'm interested. I need the 15" tires and the basketweaves will be 'snow rims'

Nah that wasn't me, but I guess I'll have to be competitive with the price now

Just email me if you are interested. Include an offer and when you could come try them out. Hope to hear from you...

"People are in demand of the basket weaves on non-SHO taurii...but those of us w/baskets want anything else"

Granted they aren't the best looking wheels on the planet, but they aren't ugly. They are wicked light, which if you are running 15" wheels at the track, are *great* for drag racing. I ran my drag radials all last year on the lace rims.

Also perfect for a set of snow tires since you can usually get 15" tires cheaper than 16". (I'm running lace on my 93 MTX w/ yokohoma snows).

Lace wheels, with 10" lighter brakes are one reason the gen1, especially the lighter 89's, have a percieved better throttle response. Compared to a typical 225/55 16 "Z" on a slicer w/ 96 brakes, you have 20 lbs less drivetrain rotation weight (similar to having a 20 lb lighter flywheel).
