Finally decided what to do with my trunk. Mimic the tailgate appliqué of the Raptor, with Ford. Bought a set of Gloss black overlays for the front grille of the truck and decided to buy 2 pairs, 1 for the SHO. Not quite done, I’m going to add gloss black vinyl shapes to the top of the trunk but here it is. View attachment 94296View attachment 94297
Then prepped the underside of the spoiler, using a dremel sand barrel, I removed the old double sided tape and bolt studs left over. A tiny piece of old 3 tape sanded down had some adhesive left to it and allows me to stick it in place to measure and mark the center with tape. View attachment 94298View attachment 94299View attachment 94300View attachment 94301View attachment 94302
Then with all new 3M tape strips all around the perimeter, prepped with alcohol and extra strips in the center I attached it…finally. Thing ain’t going nowhere. View attachment 94303View attachment 94304View attachment 94305View attachment 94306View attachment 94307
Finally able to move forward. Since the trunk is all matte metallic black (ghost) I’ll flip the vinyl wrap on the top of the trunk gloss black. I’ve got some more vinyl coming too. I really miss the Ford vinyl emblems I had on the front fenders and top of the hood and that’s going to be matte black. Despite the car metallic gloss black, the vinyl wrap black matte metallic…plain matte black ford logos will stand out and look great. Before I had them white. Anyway, moving along.

I had the vintage Paul Rand Ford logo design from 1966 powder coated matte black base and metallic gloss black letters. And my new PCV deleted valve cover is coated and I just got them today. View attachment 94313
Those ghosts look strangely familiar.
Now it truly "SCREAM" 's FORD.

I’m always looking for diffuser ideas and I was about to “send it” with the one I had made. It probably does have more drag that I’d want but I bet it has a ton of downforce on the rear tires, glued to the road isn’t such a bad thing. It did feel super planted the one time I went 70-75mph on the interstate and switched lanes, felt very agile. But I came across this design which is very basic, I’ve seen it plenty of times but nice to see it again. Think this is what I’ll do, no fins just a tunnel, keep it about 12-15•IMG 4414
@Junkyard_Mad-Scientist has made me one of his center speaker gauge pods, so so cool he’s making these. I’ve always wanted one, in the past I prioritized my money on go fast parts. So we’re all fortunate that he has taken this on and is doing an excellent job. I decided to wrap mine in Vvivid Black Square CF vinyl. I was able to get the top and sides in one piece. The front and rear are separate pieces. I’ve been using a lot of knifeless tape recently and it was used here. IMG 4415IMG 4416IMG 4417IMG 4420IMG 4418
After a lot of oohhing and awwwing I opted to buy GloShift gauges. I looked at Ford Performance and pricey for a meter gauge, I wanted digital. To look over quickly and just see numbers. Prosport was another one I had them all in a cart but couldn’t find a matching transmission temp gauge. I decided to look at GloShift and they come with everything pretty much, 10 different colors and had the gauges I wanted digitally, boost, oil press and transmission temp. I bought their sandwich plate with 1/8 NPT to get oil pressure reference. I think I’ll just get a -10AN with 1/8 NPT and put that on the feed to the transmission cooler for trans temp …or look closer for a different spot. Haven’t had the car under the knife yet but it’s about to.

I even added a tiny vintage Ford vinyl logo for the gauge pod I printed with my Cricut and used Vvivid transfer paper. Fricken Arts and Crafts over here IMG 4426IMG 4429IMG 4430IMG 4431
Can’t wait to install this. I used my Autometer Dashlink II OBD2 BT and tablet for gauges mounted on the center speaker but found always needing to charge the tablet is annoying to me and if I’m doing a data log …which I will be doing a lot of, I can’t use the Dashlink II at the same time and I want to be able to see the most important to me at all times. I could have bought a dual OBD2 harness but nah.

Also with the trunk, on the top as its base color is now the vinyl matte black metallic, I flipped the graphic to be gloss black and it blends pretty good I think IMG 4363IMG 4362IMG 4358
I think I need to finish the exterior once and for all. With that done it’s light mechanical and then just maintain mechanical stuff and do some tweaks. Also the @Junkyard_Mad-Scientist is currently developing exhaust covers for me. So I can park, put the covers on, wash the car or let it sit and not worry about rain or debris.

Man looks sweet. Love the fender flares.

Looks great! Is it ever going to hit the track?
Yeah absolutely. Most of it is finding the time. I’m definitely not someone with weekends off. A good part of it is deciding on what changes I’m going to make and most of it is all creativeness with no right or wrong. I sent the valve cover back to redo in illusion purple instead of lollipop candy purple. I was going to send it bc it is in the back but it’ll be noticeable and I don’t want to take it off ever again let alone just to change the color. So back it went. The garage is under the master bedroom so working on it ends by 9pm if I did work on it for a couple hours starting after dinner. I think if I was single, it would have been done already. Hahahaha for real.

Possibly scratch that diffuser idea for now. The price of aluminum and abs for a 4x8’ sheet 1/4” is ridiculous. I’ll make some tweaks to my original design and call it the first iteration. Change it later if needed. IMG 2642
I changed the vintage Ford logo on the center gauge pod to off white bc it was just too dark IMG 4447
So I also added that back in off white on the hood after trying matte black…I like the off white. Also made some eyebrows to the lights. Need to add a black strip to the top of the eyebrows and fix one but is this what you imagine a Ford Taurus SHO to look like? Project Nightmare

Ok, got my valve cover matched finally. Originally thought it was Translucent Purple, I saw a video of how that turned out, didn’t look right. My guy BCP Restoration tried Lollipop Candy Purple and I thought that was it until I had it side by side. Too dark, made mine look blue. So now it’s matched up and turned out to be Illusion Purple. Cuz it looks purple or kind of blue depending on angle and lighting IMG 4317IMG 4487
Now time to finish the passenger graphics. Then mechanical next week! Let’s F Go! IMG 4464

Cmon already let’s go! Well I’m getting there. Swapped a leaking PTFE 90. Just unbolted it, replaced the ferrule and added the new fitting. Pretty easy. Left the line on the car. IMG 4675
Removed the rear valve cover. So does the VVT solenoid have its own mini gasket or did this get melted on lol? Has to be original so that’s getting replaced since I’m in here. IMG 4692IMG 4693IMG 4691IMG 4696
Everything else looks good. I can probably reuse this cover gasket it looks mint. But I have a new one so….and new coil gaskets also. Everything new on the new to me modified cover except I’ll swap over the bolts. Picking up 2 new OEM Motorcraft VVT solenoids today. I’ll have the new cover on later today and should have the front cover off as well.

Needed a 1/8 NPT extension for my trans cooler temp sensor probe, it’s a bit long. I picked up a -10 male to female with 1/8 NPT to add to my cooler line, exiting the cooler to put this sensor. Also already installed the Glowshift sandwich plate with sensor for oil pressure.

Once I get the valve covers done today/tomorrow. Get my trans cooler sensor ran tomorrow…..aside from running some gauge wiring I should be ready to rip. Oh and added an innovative ethanol sensor and fuel temp dedicated gauge. Have some new fittings and PTFE hose coming to remake the feed to the HPFP shorter since I’m adding that sensor.
