Some more progress. Did some fine trimming on the spoiler abs. Tried to heat it up and bend it….felt like I was going to melt it before that 3/8” wanted to bend. So I’m not going to try anymore.

Got the driver side rear flare on. Then I put 300lbs of weights…probably 200lbs short of everything back in plus fluids…but wanted to sort of see how it sat before I mocked up the front. So I put a big bandaid on my chin spoiler and splitter…got the front end sort of mocked up. Got one front flare on. Not sure if I’m going to have it come nearly flat with the chin spoiler or cut it a little higher and show some front tire. Issue is the flares have a little bit of a narrow radius so it really wants to fight me to put it just where I want in the bottom front. Going to take a break from it.

Starting to get pumped! Looking more alive. Still got 3 hood louvers and fender louvers to install. 01C6C67A 4AA2 4797 9793 B1C047BBE217C0D7FF6A 62D8 4505 A268 54A08D23CDE67B68E4DF 9244 496E 969E E63025C4C056DDCCC29C FF7A 46C2 95AB 314D44E72567A9F67884 6BF6 4FC1 9BC8 D1A5EDB017966265CA74 F389 4AB1 8D9F C23D2905F79127033A7B F5EF 4115 B6BC A50C1583B614

This this is freaking awesome. For my unrequested two cents, I don’t think the lip and the fender flare should meet. I believe it would end up taking on a Japanese Wangan racer look if you did. If you are in fact looking to hard park this SHO and do high speed runs on the highway at midnight then by all means don’t stop at the fender flares .

I agree, I want to show some front end tire. Just wasn’t sure and was tired so it seemed like a good time to call it for the day

Maybe stop the flare somewhere around your last rivet in the front? Then just feather it into the existing fender.

Something like this?

I was just thinking an angle cut for sure. That’s why I didn’t drill the pilot hole for the Cleco pin….what I thought I wanted and what I saw didn’t quite look right….but then I was second guessing which way to go. Even though my front bumper and chin spoiler need to be fixed/repainted I wasn’t trying to drill a hole I wouldn’t use.

I can't wait to see the end result! As far as bending the abs, how about getting a thinner material?

Actually that was the 1/4”. I think bc I’m trying to bend it at such an extreme angle in one 20” long or so bend….it was just starting to sizzle the abs rather than bend. I wouldn’t want to go thinner. I tried a blow torch and heat gun. I spent so much time trimming the piece that I didn’t want to have to cut a new one if I somehow ruined it from too much heat. Tried heating it a little at a time too. To me it was crazy that it needed a lot more heat to be pliable. Maybe I need more YouTube training lol

I was seeing a rating of 210-220 degrees for some ABS to become soft. Seems like you would need an oven to get the whole piece up to that temp.

Hmm, and it cools pretty quick too, would suck to put it on a baking sheet and then end up with something molded out of shape looking like **** lol

What about adding a vent at the rear of the front wheels something like this? Might be biting off more than you want to chew if you try though.IMG 20210612 161209

I’ve seen that on legit track cars. Honesty I wish….but only if it was all carbon and done by a professional lol. And very nice drawing
