Am I being over cautious and silly having the dealer change the engine, transmission, RDU and PTU fluids with so few miles on a 2018 PP ?

My concern is I didn't put the first 6k on it so I'm uncertain how the initial owner drove it .

If it isn't silly do you recommend also doing the brakes and cooling or is necessary to just follow the the actual maintenance schedule ?

Might be a little early for the drivetrain fluids but I would make it a practice to change all the fluids more frequently than manufacturer intervals for sure. Maybe get the interval recommendations for heavy use vehicles (taxi, police etc) and guesstimate from there. You probably want to get the oil done just so you know it's fresh.

Yes it's kind of peace of mind . $600 to do them all is expensive but at least on a go forward basis I could get back on a more normal schedule .

Brakes I doubt are needed I have 22k miles at least and though brakes look lower there no where needing changed

I would have the collant tested to see if there is enough consentrete to not freeze thru the winter

Probably is good to change the fluid then. Some say to change it every 3 years or use a device to measure the water content in the fluid.
Sorry I meant brake fluid. The brakes are good .
Although I have gone many years with other vehicles before feeling any need to change the fluid but only after changing it once as soon as I get the vehicle with 100k on it already a f250,97 Subaru and 01 Subaru use to think it was because of using high quality fluid that my cold issues go away but it was the water in the fluid that was the cause.
At -20f you start to feel the fluid moves much slower and -40f it's dangerous if you needed to stop suddenly along with the road tire temps/ice being against you as well.

I think I better just do it. Are there any specific things about the PTU and RDU I need to remind the dealer about with the PP?

Shouldn't be, although the dealers near me have no interest in changing the PTU fluid as since Ford calls it "lifetime" fluid. One said they would and quoted me $160 on the phone only to call me up and say it would be $400 but don't bother. Fine you don't want to change it Ford can pay for the warranty work if it grenades.

Yes the quote I had was $160 as well but it wasn't in their system - they had to price it by hand .

That's probably not too bad a price. and leaving it up to warranty is fine if you plan on selling it before the warranty is up. If you want it longer term, treat it as such even with a warranty.

If they will do the work for that price it's not bad.

My 2010 has 120k on it now and I've never done anything but oil and trans. And brakes every 2 years because they sort of burn up quickly. Radiator looks clean.

PTU and RDU, I'm guessing are the transfer cases, but I am not familiar with the acronyms. What's the maintenance recommendation there?

The only fluid I'd be doing is motor oil depending on the recommended interval. I'd bet a lot of folks have heard the term "break in oil" but few actually understand that many manufacturers first round of engine oil is actually formulated to seat rings and wear moving parts into spec. Changing it too soon can actually lead to oil consumption issues. As for the other fluids, I'd do my homework before arbitrarily just changing things and verify the properties of what you put back in. Taking care of your equipment is a good thing, just do your homework first.

If it's the Ford fluids listed in the manual would it not be ok to change at any time?

No dealers around me will do ptu either. Every time i ask they say its a sealed system with lifetime fluid and i laugh at them. You make some real lifetime gear oil and ill buy and so will the airforce
