Couple days ago I went to the SVT club forum and found some one was talkin shit about SHOs, he said,

"Look, no disrepect here, I just don't see a SHO being some kind bad "A" hot rod. I had some knucklehead in one mess with me a few days back on the "HD", It was no contest and the "HD" is not all that quick I guess I just have to see the SHO's run before I pass judgement, but they ain't all that on the street.

So I got a little ****** and the posts started flying, well after the smoke cleared (everything is cool now cause a bunch of the guys in the SVT club jumped this guys ass and said the SHO IS a bad ass ride) so it came down to a few of the SVT guys would like to go out and run 701 and 207. The plan would be get out there early enough to run up into the park do lunch at Fox Hollow run 701 and 207, take 207 back to the freeway by passing Ranger and be back to DFW before dark.

I suggested Sunday March 2nd if the weather is good to start with so we can all kick it around and see what all our schedules are.

So all those that couldn't make the run in the DFW area due to work, and those that missed 701 and 207 this is an opportunity to run these 2 roads. So please let me know if any one here in the DFW-SHO club would like to participate.

I'd like to make Ranger Run #2. It's in my DayTimer. Honey, I'd like to go play again....

Along those lines, I'd also like to propose that we set up a few rules for our drives. Don, maybe as the DFW head SHOguy and coordinator for the Ranger Runs, you could try to communicate these guidelines to participants so that we don't irritate or endanger the locals and bring down law enforcement on our activities. They rules I was thinking of were along the following lines:

1. Approach and pass locals at more "normal" road speeds without full throttle blasts to alert them to our fun.
2. Absolutely no passing locals in NO PASSING zones. That will **** off and irritate any normal motorist and gaurantee a call to the authorities.
3. Front runners notify group when oncoming traffic is sighted on two lane roads.
4. Stay on the right side of the yellow line whenever oncoming traffic is sighted.
5. Maintain less than "go to jail" speeds on more heavily traveled highways when around other motorosts. The idea is not to attract law enforcement when we are just getting to the Run. Also might reduce car breakage since the two casualties on the last run were on the way to Ranger.

Basically, the idea is not to attract attention by seriously misbehaving around other drivers. Let's use a little common sense and have a lot of fun.

OK, with some springs, struts, I could take some of those turns a bit better.
I am one of the few that did get to enjoy 701. :D trust me it was one of the best roads. Nice swooping turns. I forget if that is where I found grass, or what turn that road was on.
But yeah, My SHO would like ot eat a SVT for brunch, and lunch at Fox Hollow sounds good too.
Is Tony interested in another run???????????????
Tim may not due to the drive, but since he did find more boost, I wonder if he needs to test it out a bit. Craig

Yea when I started planning this run I wanted it to be more organized than the fall run, oh well.

Things I would like to change or implement for all the runs.
1. A drivers meeting before the runs.
2. Radio checks at the start of the runs and at every stop along the way
3. Every one calculate what your vehicles gas mileage weeks before the run, and everyone top off before the start.
4. The ATXs start first with a half hour lead, since the ATXs can't down shift (well your not supposed to Martin) into the corners like the MTXs can.
5. Cell phones on with everyones number handy.

Not a rule but i think a good idea a navigator/camera/radio person with each driver.

When Dale and I were leading the second group we were giving reports of "on coming" traffic and "stop sign", "debris", "road ****" and "birds" that I managed to **** one. Did no one hear us?

I think if we in the second group had done 701 like I was trying to do we would have never met up with officer bubba, and we would have gotten there just as fast. When mapping out the course I was getting bad thoughts about drag racing on 67, during the mapping sesions we never tested 380 out of Newcastle we had gone futher north on 926 to 79 to 578 to 209 and everyone thought those 3 roads were to boring, so we cut them out, so knowing what I do now the spot for the drag racing was on 380 before the bridge before 578.

And Scott I agree with your number 5, since we spend time mapping a spot for drag racing on the run what's the point drag racing and being a menace on the highway on the way to the run. On the way to the run I was in Sergio's group we went fast down to the run but we didn't act like maniacs, well Scott you know you were in Sergio's group down to Ranger too.

Dan, Scott, I really like your ideas. I agree with all the needed additions to all runs. I did try when leading a pack to inform of all road obstructions, situations. I hope that it was helpful, and informative. I cannot wiat until the next run. I do agree with the dragging area issue. I do not feel on the way to ranger was the safest place due to traffic, on-ramps, but what is done is done, next time can be a bit different. I feel all and all that it was a very successful run. No accidents, no damage(1 bird, 1 bunny, 1 ****** off ATX tranny spitting fluid)and no tickets. Thank you for the experience, Craig

What type of SVT's were they? Contours?

I can't imagine they were Focus people, they should know better.

The guy that was running his mouth drives a Cobra and a Harley Davidson S/C F150--100th Anniversary.
The SVT forum has a feature this one doesn't it's a presonal messenger and not to long after the shit talking from the Cobra guy I recieved a message from one of the higher-ups of the SVT club telling me not to take Mr. Cobra to heart, that he was a blow hard that the SVT club just tolerates.

svttexas.com the oldest SVT club in the US started in 98. The national SVT club coyped the svttexas's web site and the organization of their club (well they got Sonny Morgan who sponsors svttexas to organize their club too). Sonny sponsors 3 car clubs out of John Eagle Lincoln Mercury. I would like to get as many SHO guys to their next meeting as possible then maybe the SHOs could have a section of our own on their site. They have a different section for each SVT made.
