640 vs 365

Was reading an article about the Ford GT super car, they use the same basic engine as a sho except for the sideways mounting that the SHO uses. My question is how does the GT make 275 more HP? I'm sure that the rotating assembly is upgraded but that would account for longevity and not the increased power production.

Without reading anything about it, a much better transmission.. however there is much that can be done differently to a 3.5V6. so I will concur with others and say huge differences.

I am betting fundamentally they share the same basic "block" design but I am willing to bet that it's close decked. They have different cam profiles and different fueling as well to allow some higher rpm. It's probably more akin to how our 3.5 ecoboost is similar to the truck ecoboost. I.e. same bore and stroke lol.
