a friend of mine was telling me that the atx 3.2 and the 3.0 mtx have different service requirements such as the 60k is for the mtx 3.0 and that the atx 3.2 does not have to be done until 100k, any one heard of this

It's mentioned on the shotimes website...

DISCLAMER: My memory is not perfect, and this is from memory.

The MTX timing belt is listed as a 60k item. The ATX, however, uses a hydraulic timing belt tensioner unlike the MTX, and because of this timing belts last longer... therefore there is a 100k replacement schedule for ATX timing belts.

As far as the rest of the cars, remember that the intakes are essentially identical between the two; same valvetrain, same seals, same gaskets, etc.
Those are all upper 60k items, regardless of ATX/MTX setup. :thumb:

Anyone else chime in with addtitions/corrections!

the 60k is really to reseal everything up and make the timing perfect because the belt sometimes gets sloppy with age. Also adjusting the cams aka reshiming is a good idea. Honesty iv know 3.0L mtx shos to go to 100k with no trouble. It seems thought that by 60k the shos starts to leak and get a little sloppy and thats why the maintance is needed. If you want the engine to last, doing it every 60k will keep your car up on power and cant hurt it to do.

actually what i learned is a mtx tends to wear faster cuz of shifting patterns and such where the atx has a smoother transition so the shims shouldnt wear as much... well that and mtx are so damn fun to drive you wanna hammer every gear :)

that makes sense, atx engines are usually in better shape, every 3.2L iv taken apart has looked great as far as bearings and stuff goes as th 3.0L's looked like ****. Its probably like what you sad man people just don't wait on the atx's ad much as the mtx's. I know my car hits at leat 7k every times its out:biggrin:

Guilty as well  That's why I'm rebuilding my 3.2 up from scratch for my swap. There is not a gasket/seal/component that isn't getting extreme attention/replacement. I know myself well enough to realize that if I was as zealous with the 3.0 as I was, then I will only be worse on the 3.2. She'd better be built to take it.
