I have just recently finished my 60k and everything went back together perfectly.
After starting the car and re-setting the idle program,I have noticed a very distinct whistling noise coming from the accesory drive belt area. Is this noise just a result of having my belts to tight or loose or can it be something else.I have checked all of my vacuum lines(because this is what it sounds like only much louder)they are all connected and fine. I have no codes and at this point kinda lost as to what this noise could be. Any suggestions will be much appreciated as this noise is driving me bonkers.

It sounds to me like you may have a belt to tight, although I cant be positive. Im sure other's will chime in here sooner or later.

you can overtighten the belts. and if you do it puts a lot of stress on the idler/tensioner pulley. so much it might just maybe pull enough to allow the nut for the idler pulley to remove it self.... at 65mph.... in the rain... on the interstate 10 miles from home. its a fairly distictive sound, well actually 2 or 3 sounds depends on what could fall where. dont ask me how i know this, can we call it, umm... knowledge or experience. the belts should not be rock hard so you cant push them in at all. do you have any wierd smells? hope this can help

I do not have any weird smell, other than that of the new gaskets seating themselves. I also have about a 1/4inch of play in the belts on their longest path.

Yes, it may be too tight. If its not to hard (ive yet to mess with the belts on my sho) why dont you loosen it a bit and see if the noise goes away.

I released the tensioner, then rotated the engine over a couple of times then tightened the nut down. I did not put any pressure on the tensioner by using the allen wrench.
