I just got my new baby - 92 MTX.....and I have a question of any 92 owners.

I want to remove the 3rd brake light.....It seems that you just remove the two screws on the side of the light....but I will strip them trying. I can't get them out.

Has anyone successfully taken off this brake light?

Actually I tried but they forced the screws in way to hard. I was not able to remove it, so I dont know how they planned to get them out.

Can I ask why you would want to remove a security feature of the vehicle?
Also if you remove that CHMSL you will have a hole in the rear deck of the car. May not bother you, but it would bother me.

Well,
I'm getting a spoiler with brake light....and am tinting the windows.......The tint looks better without this "SLO looking light"......I will create something for the hole ..... Perhaps an interior light - Turn it around.....

my suggestion would be to head down to your local hobby shop and get some sheet styrene(sp) and cut a piece suitable to cover the indentation for the red lense. Then glue it flush and paint it your interior color, that way it covers the hole, and is no longer a brake light. Nobody will notice it. As for the screws, I believe I had trouble also, I just used the biggest possible screwdriver head that would fit, a #2 I believe, and applied lots of pressure while backing them out.
