It was once said that these SHO engines were rated at 300hp but Ford didn't want the SHO to compete with the Mustang. Is there any way that I could squeeze out that much power without putting a turbo or something on it?

These engines never had 300HP.

Yes, You can make 300HP..... Every Bolt on and Cams will get you there. Nitrous will do it faster however.

You can, but a lot of cost and labor time involved to get to that level NA. Turbo on a stock motor would cost a little more but take less time, and result in a lot more power First need to upgrade the chassis, suspension etc.. before adding power.

Actually, the SHO did compete with Mustang's back then. They had about the same HP rating, but the 5.0 made more torque.

Like was said, you can squeeze that power out of it, but its going to be expensive, and it won't be that nice, smooth, fairly quiet V6 that you know and love. And the more you mod it, the harder you'll drive it, and the more it will break, so if you like to spend money, go for it!

yes, it is true that someone said the SHO engine was originally rated at 300hp. problem is, they were not correct.

and when you here the one about a Phantom Grip LSD for the tranny, the correct response is to laugh uncontrollably then turn and leave.

There is seriously factory supercharged SHOs? Gen2? Why have I never heard of this. I want engine bay pics, body pics, and any other info on this machine.

Back in Michigan ... again.
I think the 300 hp figure comes from the GN34 prototype that ultimately spawned the SHO V-6. 280-300 horsepower was the target for that car; whether or not the prototype SHO engine got there is something I can't say for certain.

Yeeeeeaaaaaah no. Never existed. It was a fluke. I still see an occasional SHO on craigslist where the owner is advertising it as a stock supercharged engine, but he's misinformed. There's only one way to get a SHO supercharged; put one on.:munch:

lol he is so gullible lol.

Hardly. I'm well aware they dont come stock supercharged or turbo'd, I'm not a retard.

Thats why I said I was never aware there WAS a stock supercharged one, and if so, i want pics or it never happened.

I didnt believe there was one, I was asking for proof. Just like people who think the "Police Grill" upgrade for a Gen1 makes it a "Police Interceptor" version of the car with a beefier engine.

Agreed. The data and info we have seen points to a larger displacement SHO engine about 3.6L that would hit the 300 mark.

This statement is not really directed at you guys, more to back it up, but the GN-34 prototype had a 3.6L sho engine, which yes, could explain the 300 hp myth. But as far as a 300hp sho engine in a TAURUS sho, no, that never happened, an no, there were never any factory supercharged cars either.

Then the guys at the autostore would be right every time they jump to the conclusion that my SHO has the 3.8 engine showing up in their computer. :munch:
