3 Bar MAP upgrade

What are the negative details on upgrade with tuning adding a 3 Bar MAP. Can it be too much boost? Why would my local tuner not want to go with 3 Bar MAP? I want the most I can get for the short burst once in a while... Am I asking for too much? He uses HP tuner. I appreciate any response, TY

The factory tune is less than the turbos are capable of this why the factory only used a 2 bar. The turbos can not put out more than the motor can take so the 3 bar let's you push the boost to the max the turbos and fuel will take. Gear head has what you would call plug and play best bang for the buck.

Agreed, universal tuners never work out on these cars. Get someone who knows the platform and can actually do you right. Local speed shops aren't really the best at anything anymore other than installing hardware.

You don't need a local tuner. Look up Gearhead, AJP or several others. You can apparently use a computer/phone, so you can load a tune and install a 3 bar map.

Ok, is there a DIY instruction for someone new to this? Maybe a follow instruction-step by step. If a so-called partial tune(wants a intercooler to do more boost, claims HP tuner) be removed if a GH tuner was selected and I do the install. Will it get complicated?

Gearhead will give you a step-by-step on how to load a tune. Your tuner is a complete idiot if he is telling you a different intercooler is needed.

You can buy just the sct device, 3 bar and a tune if you don't want to do plugs and t stat.
