And in good shape? I was reading some previous threads about bearings, and people are talking about yanking the motor to see if the main bearings and crank are good or bad if the connecting bearings are going. They mention it would just be easier or cheaper to just swap an engine at that point.

So now the question is, are 3.2s easy/cheap to find and how hard is the swap to the MTX? From what I've heard you take the 3.2 block and add the 3.0 top to it? Is that it basically? How does the motor mount? What about the mating to an MTX vs ATX?

3.2's are indeed numerous. check www.car-part.com The ideal setup which will also aid in compression findings, etc is: a 3.2 shortblock. YOu need the oil pan, oil pump pickup, crank pulley, flywheel, the timing belt tensioner, and all accessories off a 3.0. Then get a set of 3.2 head gaskets, and transfer your 3.0 heads/exhaust manifolds over to the 3.2. reconnect all wires and you'll be good to go!!

I took the whole thing when I did mine. I used the whole 3.2 block including heads with mine. I used the intake off the 3.0 because the 3.2 intake has the egr stuff that my car did not have therefore the computer was different. Use all of the 3.0 accessories and stuff. I used the 3.0 tensioner system and the 3.0 oil pan and pump. Take the intake cams out of your 3.0 (exhaust are the same) and put them in the 3.2 for a bit more HP with a more aggressive curve. I will fill you in on any help if you actually do it. In my opinion it is worth it. thumbs_u

Man, this sounds exciting and too good to be true, but if my idol Mark N can do it and make times like no other Taurus can, then it's possible.
Too bad I'm strapped on cash for now, but I think I have found next summers project. Now to just keep an eye out for good 3.2s! thumbs_u
