3.2L ATX Speed sensor

Hi, I've got a question on the speed sensor found on the ATX SHO. I'm going to be pulling off the transaxles and the book says to remove it to prevent damaging it.

Okay...is there a certain way it needs to be removed? And is this the round looking thing sticking out the back of the transmission?
