Is the 3.2 block a duplicate of 3.0 liter block just with bigger bore? I am going to bore 3.0 block and put in 3.2 pistons and am worried about wall thickness. Those who have done this let me know.

Both the late 3.0 and 3.2 have the same wall thickness, about .210-215" so this shows that they are not the same casting, ( there are other minor differances too) If they were the same casting the 3.0 wall would be almost .110" thicker due to the smaller bore.

When you bore a late 3.0 block to 3.2 specs you bring the wall thickness down to around .170"

It depends on the usage of the engine after the bore, trying for 600 HP with some boost? I wouldnt try it but for under 300 crank hp it seems several people have done it with good results

Use the search function , there is plenty of info in it.

So if I wanted to build a 3.3L and spray it I should start with a 3.2 block and rotating assembly instead of the 3.0L in my car?

Just double checking since I have read different opinions on the subject.
THought it makes since that if they were the exact same block the wall thickness on the 3.0 would be thicker than the 3.2. Thanks for the info.

I would use a 3.2 block to build ANY 3.3 reguardless of application, thats just too much meat to lose out of a 3.0 block

thanks, I'll have to start searching for an ATX donor car pretty soon....
Still have a couple things to add to the 3.0 before I start the build.

before u get all amped up for a 3.3L conversion.... ask some people who have done it how hard it is to get headgaskets, modify them... and have them actually work...

I thought that the reason you didn't bore out the 3.2 any further than a 3.3 (actually a 3.26) is because if you did then the head gasket wouldn't fit. I gathered that ment you could use the 3.2 gasket in the 3.3 (3.26) without having to do any modification. Was I mistaken in this? If so I may just go with a 3.2.
