What is the benefit of installing 3.0 cams in a 3.2 ATX? If there is a benefit and I decide to do it, do I need to swap the heads too.

the 3.0 cams have more lift and overlap. the difference is small. it is only the intake cam that is different. when I did the swap on my turbo car I noticed no difference. That is not to say there isn't a difference but I just didn't notice one. keep in mind my car is a animal either way.

iirc, from what I've seen the only difference in dyno numbers (before and after) was above 5500 rpm.

considering the lift goes from .315 to .330, and duration's only a couple of degrees more, don't expect a lopey idle followed by horrific top end. It's mostly something done by those who swap the 3.2 onto an MTX, as it's a bit more noticeable without the sloppy ass trans.

I think that's where the atx needs it the most!.... I Oh what.... He's swapping it out, I drove a 3.2 with the 3.2 cams in there, it's not bad, I believe the 3.0 would have been alittle bit better. However I'll let you know about the 3.2 with 3.0 cams in it when it's done!

I noticed a little difference. The difference was gained above 5,000 rpm's. Then again I have other mods to compliment that with the cams. I would definitely do it.

I want to install 3.0 cams on my 3.2, if the the exhaust cams are the same I only need to replace the intake cams?? Or do I have it backwards??

nah you have it right. Just swap the cams that have the timing belt sprockets. Just make sure you get the timing right on the chain part of the deal, cuz that can easily get done wrong. Also do a valve adjustment. Everything can be found on ShoPhoenixProject.com

I just searched a little and it doesn't seem to be much of a benefit in doing the 3.0 cam swap. I don't mind wasting my time in trying it but I don't want to lose any low end torque.

They decreased the lift on the intake cams of the 3.2 by a half a millimeter to increase torque in the ATX equipped cars to compensate for the slushbox.
