Someone I know from work claims he has a low mileage 3.2 at home.. First he said it came out of a 93 MTX....Then changed his mind hours later claiming it came out of an ATX... He said he bought the car in 06 with intentions of flipping it but when he found out that the body was rusted out badly where the rear of the subframe mounts to the car he pulled out the motor, and sold the shell with a working trans inside to some kid....

Now the fact that he does not know if it came from an ATX or an MTX seems sketchy.. Obviously I could tell the difference if it was all in one piece, But he sold some of the parts recently on Ebay, but he does not want to deal with shipping a short block.. I asked him if he still had all the timing belt components in tact but he said that he had pulled that some time ago and sold it....

I really dont wanna mess with this thing but a lower mileage (supposedly 81k) 3.2 shortblock for 60 bucks is unbeatable...Assuming its a 3.2...

Are there any stampings on the block that can differentiate the 3.0 from the 3.2???

Thanks in advance!

You mention it is a short block. Is that sans heads and accessories? If so, you can either measure the bore, look at the pistons as they are flatter than the 3L, or note if it has extra webbing toward the bottom of the block. The 3.2L has more webbing which is one of the easiest things to spot.

Thanks everyone.. I had not thought about the oil level sensor location...Assuming the engine still has a pan bolted to it.

I already thought about the oil pump, but he said today that he sold ethe oil pump along with the timing belt tensioner and idler. I'll look at the webbing on the block... He said eh was free later this week, so I guess I'm gonna take a peek at this thing
