Convention is dead. I said that last year. Even if dates were posted right today, there wouldn't be enough people that could commit. The track day would be a loss again and the whole thing would be canceled. Again...

I'm just waiting for it to be announced that it's not happening. Enough nutswingers like to keep chiming in that it's for sure happening and that they know all the details, but they can't share anything.

Let's just be realistic. It's May 25th. Convention is typically July. So less than 2 months and ....

I have heard there may be another Plan B attempted, I'd be down for that.

2018 will happen, as either myself or another member will have something planned. I'm very saddened by the lack of an actual Convention these past two years.

Rich is good people, I'm sure he was just fed something and hoping.
1.
Plan here is to Go to Road America July 22-23 to watch the best Vintage races in the Midwest.
www.roadamerica.com
2.
As for track time the plan now is to run again with Northwoods Shelby Club Aug 26-27 at Blackhawk Farms. Nicest group I've had the pleasure to meet. Tommy enjoyed riding a session in a Superformance Cobra. I could see the smile through the helmet.
Free camping, which Adam, Michelle, Andy, my Son and I did last year.
3.
MVP track days, run by Mark a member here with a Gen 4, runs the first Monday in June full course at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet. Problem with that is Carlisle Ford Nationals are the 3 days before.
I still might try that next year. Carlisle until Sunday morning, up early then head west 666 miles to my door, change the oil, sleep, then head to track Monday 5 am. worst case if SHO is tired for one reason or another I run Subie wagon.

I'm in for Plan B
I doubt I'll have a car that's track worthy. Though a rental car is the best track car....
I like the idea of going to Road America for vintage racing.

Who would be interested in Gingerman?
I'd like to go back but like Chris Gates dealt with blowing up there, how do I get it home if something happens. Gotta have a group and a friend with a trailer available. just realistic.
Back to the post title, heard something was up for a few minutes yesterday on facebook saying convention is a go, then deleted. Anyone know anything about that?

2017 SHO Convention Update:

After sometime of thinking I was not going to do one Ron Porter has talked me into doing one this year, after the failed contract with NCM I was pretty discouraged and was just going to write it off.. So with short notice.. It will be Based out of Kalamazoo Mi, Hotel and track info to follow this week.. Going to be making it a small convention for this year. Dates are July 17th- 20th.

2018 SHO Convention: Tulsa Oklahoma July 16th-19th
Timothy Tyner and i have been discussing this for a long time about bringing it back to Tulsa. Tulsa was my first convention back in 2001 and it was a great time. Tulsa is a great place with many old and new attractions, and the best part is that it has a track that is not ridiculously priced so we can get the Convention back on track. This will be a full convention, with Car Show, Track Day and a Drag Day.

I would like to Thank both Ron and Tim for being good friends and showing the needed support to keep this going.

JC Shaw will be bringing the Website back to life and adding a forum to it as well. Also I will be creating a Convention Committee to help pick places that we can go, make contacts and to make sure that the convention always continues on in the same way that it has and doesn't turn in to a cookout/parking lot party only.

See the other thread on this. Kalamazoo, SCCA Track Night at Gingerman Tuesday, US131 Dragway TnT Wednesday, plus the usual Car Show and other stuff. 14 microbreweries in Kalamazoo, and the Gilmore Museum and a casino down the road.

Not deleted. And I would have to call Gingerman one of my favorite tracks definitely in my Top 3.
