On another website I frequest there was remarks that Ford has run out of parts for the 2011 Taurus and Explorer.

Has anyone heard that?. It accurate I'm shocked!!

Here was the post;

03/11/11

All Manufacturers

Ford
US only Ford MY2011 Taurus, Edge, Flex, Escape, Explorer with AWD/4x4 orders balanced out date of 3/09/11. Demand for these vehicles and body styles have exceeded supply. Ford is making every effort to build orders received on and prior to 3/09/11 and will continue to accept will-try orders placed on 3/10 or after. Customers with orders placed that receive the balance out message will be advised. Ford anticipates these options will be available for the start up of MY12.

It's not saying that they are shutting down. In fact, it's the opposite. They already have all the orders needed to fill production for the 2011 model run. The only other option would be to add another production shift, but Ford has already stated that they won't increase production just to build more vehicles. This is a major change from the past. Instead of bringing on a 2nd shift, and then finding out that they are now out-building sales, Ford wants to keep production at a level where sales always exceed production by the smallest amount. That way there will always be a demand for their product. :salute:

How I read the statement was; If you ordered a 2011 after 3/9 your very possibly SOL. They only have enough parts for vehicles ordered to about 3/9

On the flip side you will get a 2012 instead .. in 6 months

Unless there is a STRIKE!...

UAW says they may go after Ford.... too many concessions to a company that didn't take TARP money or go bankrupt....

(I didn't say this.... but they did...)

Oh well... union owns GM, so maybe this is their way of "leveling the playing field".

I think you mean "leveling the competition"

If the UAW goes after Ford then Ford should strike right back with tampering since the UAW owns so much of GM.

Ford has not stopped taking retail orders for awd

Retail Orders ARE NOT halted for 2011 MY according to Ford!

This was posted on Flex Net by Ford Customer Service today. It applies to Flex & Explorer, so would also apply to Taurus & SHO, as they all are built on the same platform with similar AWD systems.

Hi guys,

I researched this and found that this message is from Fleet. It is advising their customers that they have enough AWD/4WD orders to fill their remaining allocation for 11MY. It does not apply to retail customers.

We continue to take retail and stock AWD/4WD orders from our dealers for 11MY Flex and Explorer.

Brick,

That is good to hear.

However I didn't know Ford was back in the business of Fleet sales. I think the large # of fleets sales of the past have always hurt the resale value.

They never got all the way out, just didn't let the volume get too high that it saturated the used car market bringing down values.

Like the IDEA of Ford suing the UAW for unfair labor practices if UAW strikes them. How can you own one company and strike another?????

Having good friend over Sat. night who was the guy who created the 2-tier contract at John Deere. Like he said, if the auto companies had had a backbone and done that when JD did back in 1997-8, perhaps they wouldn't have had the problems in the last few years. By now over 80% of Deere employees are on the lower tier. Will be interesting to hear his take on this issue!
