Hi all,

I'm new to the world of SHO performance but a diehard Ford guy. I have a 2010 SHO with stock everything minus a Corsa Exhaust & K&N drop in filter. I just recently upgraded my standard Motorcraft Platinum plugs over to Motorcraft Irridium plugs as the car had 82K on the clock and had started to "Detonate" under heavy turbo spooling. I tried upping the octane from 87 to 91 and alternated between 89 & 91 but the detonation continued, just a less overall with higher octane rated fuel. Once I did the Irridium plugs....WOW, huge difference overall!

On to my main topic of interest....

Who would you all recommend for tuning and which tuners (OBD II) are compatible with the new 4th Gen SHO's? Thanks in advance.

Welcome, glad you got away from the original plugs found in the 2010! No more cracked insulators with the SP534's :)

Thanks for the insight guys. So back on topic real quick, what tuning modules actually work on 2010 & onward SHO's? SCT, Superchips etc etc? I run SCT in as much as I can.

I also have an Unleashed tune.
I have the SCT X4 and LOVE IT!
Just started in on data logging and getting my first custom tunes from Torrie. (Unleashed)
Overall I've been more than satisfied! Best $400 I've spent!!!!!!

Lots of recommendations for Torrie at Unleashed and he deserves those recommendations for sure. I have been tuned by Livernois since 2012 and I have found their tunes to be excellent as well - great performance, perfect daily driver behavior, and trouble-free. Both of these organizations have customers with very quick times at the track and virtually zero mechanical issues.

One difference between the two is that Unleashed starts with a relatively mild base tune and encourages the customer to provide datalogs so the tune can be tweaked to optimize it. Livernois has done substantial research and tuning with the Ecoboost so their tunes are optimized for the particular vehicle strategy code and they do not alter the tunes based on data logs. Note that they will often make some basic changes at the customer's request.....things like transmission shift pressure or cooling fan settings....but for the most part, their tunes "are what they are." There are different versions of tunes available and when a new version is released, they will provide it to their customers at no additional cost.

Someone trying to decide between the two should decide if they are comfortable with the data logging process. If I had a track nearby where I could do WOT 0-100 MPH runs legally and safely, I would love to be able to data log and have my tune tweaked. I live in an area where LEOs and/or wildlife on the roadways make it very difficult to do the runs needed for optimal datalogging. The tracks where I run are 2 hours away. I do not always see eye-to-eye with some of the folks at Livernois but I do have 100% confidence in their tuner, their process and their tunes. With NO additional mods besides the tune, my heavy MKS with the Livernois tune will run the quarter in 12.68 and do 0-60 in under 4 seconds. It also gets great fuel economy and runs smooth as silk with ZERO drivability issues.

If I have mis-characterized either of these tuners, feel free to disagree or correct anything I have said. :)

I think all of the information in this thread is very good. My add on...

The customer satisfaction and times that the LMS tunes run are very impressive. The primary reason that I went with Unleashed is his use of the SCT tuner. With that tuner I can take my car to any of the many, many SCT tuning centers and get a custom dyno tune if I choose later. Just in case I go crazy and want to do something that is not a standard modification later, I will already have the tuner that I need.

The MyCal tuner is just not a supported device outside of Livernois. With the SCT, you have SCT themselves plus countless tuners around the country.

Glad you asked, because I think it's worth mentioning when comparing these two options that Unleashed seemingly does not have a phone. LOL

He is very fast to reply to emails, but I believe that is the only method of communication for Unleashed.

One other tuner to mention is LET. I do not have experience with them, but that is who Mike at EcoPowerParts uses and I trust his judgement. I believe LET will work over the phone and also uses the SCT tuner.

I also want to state that I am not trying to talk you out of LMS. They have great tunes. I just wanted more flexibility.
