okay right now the transmission is messed up or something, took it to the dealer I bought it from, still under warranty. it was clunking and grinding all of a sudden on my way home then it showed a wrench sign on the dash and was then I believe stuck in only a higher gear so from 0 to 50 I was like a snail with no power. the dealership has had it now 4 months and with a rebuild trans put in it I got it back and 60 miles later the same thing. not putting my foot into it btw. also throwing p0973 code

The dealer had it 4 months? Find another dealer.

Most times one dealership won't warranty the work of another. I had an issue with my dealership in my local town. I had an issue with the work (workmanship issue, not product issue) and called the reputable Ford shop 30 miles away. They said I could bring it to them but the warranty from my local Ford dealership only applies to them. It's likely if he takes it to another dealership he'll have to pay again. But if it's all under warranty with no cost, it doesn't matter.

No, it's not. If it's a parts issue then you can take it anywhere. If it's a workmanship issue it's not covered by other dealerships. Go talk to your dealers. Ask them if you pay for a job and they screw up an install but the parts are still good can you take it to another dealership and them cover it.

Keep in mind, this isn't warranty like a power train warranty. This is the warranty they offer after you've already paid for a job to be completed at one dealership.
