A bit of background: I just completed replacing the water pump, and timing components on this car. while I was under the hood I checked the oil in the intercooler, and managed to pull out 5 OZ of oil from there... not too bad. After completing the job, I cleaned the oil pan, poured new oil in, and new coolant, and car ran perfectly...for 2 days.
After driving about 60 miles i noticed excessive smoke from the exhaust while on the highway, and pulled over shortly after. My first thought was head gasket...
I checked the coolant, level is fine, no oil mixed in, and no over heating.
Checked oil, - smoke coming from crank case, and all oil is gone. no sign of oil leaks. I had the car towed to my house and started tinkering with it.
Found a little bit of oil in the crankcase vent separator, and oil around the PCV fitting connection and PCV to intake manifold hose. I though it was a bad PCV valve, but before ordering i decided to check the inter-cooler.... guess where all my oil went.... yep... its all in the inter-cooler. how is this possible that all of the oil ended up in the inter-cooler after only 60 miles of driving? Bad turbos? bad PCV? any help or input would be much appreciated .
