I have an option of locking in on a new SHO already ordered by a local dealer. I was able to pull up a copy of the window sticker on the car which notes the build date on the car as June 30. It also shows the invoice on the order as being placed on June 17 which matches what the dealer said.

Does anyone have any idea why this car was built June 30 and still has not been delivered? Does anyone else have a SHO ordered in this same time period (late june, early July), that has not received their SHO yet?

Could this be an indication that some of the earlier produced cars had a problem that is having to be refitted with new parts and this process is very slow?

Thanks

It must have fallen off the truck. Actually it might have been delivered to another dealer by mistake.

It is probably sitting with mine. My car has sat since July 25th. Ramp 79 with a delivery of TBD. My dealer tells me the quality hold backed up deliveries (not that anything was wrong, just a quality check). The lot is full of vehicles to be delivered. My car, because it was an early build, is waiting at the back of the lot???? I am anxiously awaiting delivery.

First post and first time SHO owner but a long time SHO fan. I have owned a couple SVT products before this and enjoyed both. This is the perfect car for me right now and the car I have waited on Ford to build for some time. Great job Ford. My wife has no idea what she is about to have as the family truckster. All she knows is she is getting a Silver Taurus.

My local Ford dealer has had the same problem. They ordered 2 of them that were built on June 30th and just received one of them 2 weeks ago, the other one they still have not received. They have been told they have been sitting @ a Chicago lot somewhere just sitting there with no explanation from Ford on why they are taking so long.

My car was built in June.... and I didn't get it until Sept 1st. It sat in holding, and they trickled out of the factory as there were doing "white glove" inspections on them. DO THIS... when you finally get it... look very closely at the paint. Mine was LOADED with small scratches. It had to go to the body shop for a better detail and scratch removal before I accepted it. Once it was there, it looked PERFECT.

My SHO is also at ramp 79 with TBD status. Scheduled date was 7/29.

I talked to a dealer yesterday and he said he just recieved a stop shipment notice on all '10 Tauruii w/o any explanation from Ford.

It is rumored that there is a quality issue that needed to be handled or corrected on all produced cars before they were delivered. This sounds plausible because when this same dealer recieved its one and only SHO so far, it had to be sent straight to the shop to "get fixed" but the salesman had no idea what needed fixing. The car alos had been pre-ordered so it was delivered right after being "fixed" before I could even take a look at it.

I wonder if that will hold mine up if it is scheduled to be built next week?

Probably. Mine is being built this week. I called my sales rep today and told him what I have been reading. He's going to do some research tomorrow and see what he can pull up. And I had talked to the main guy at the plant in charge of the 2010 SHO quality control team during our 2010 SHO meet in June in Carolina. Pretty sure his name was Jeff. Wished I could find his damn email addy in my paperwork. I'll keep you posted there 1970Bronco on what I find.

If there is a quality issue, i'm glad they have caught it and it is understandable that when you design and build a new car there can be minor quality items that can be missed.

But as someone who is considering buying one of these new vehicles, I would like to know the nature of the problem(s) and what was the fix. My concern is whether it is a simple fix and if so can an adequate replacement part be obtained in volume in a short time period. Or are they simply putting a bandaide on the problem.

I guess this is why they don't want the consummer to have any first hand knowledge of factory quality problems. But you would think someone at the factory would leak some info on what was the reason for the stop shipment order.

Does anyone have any connections at the production facility as to what the hold up is for. My dealer doesn't even admit to a stop shipment notice and you know that if it was sent to one dealership then it was shipped to them all.

The dealers dont know shit. I wouldnt ask them anything. I would contact Ford directly about the issue. From what I understand, the issues are all paint/fit related. So basicly they have to wait for people to fix them.

St. Louis SHO - I have contacted Ford. The response - contact your Dealer's General Manager. The Dealer says we are getting close - what ever that means. I hate the thought of a paint related problem on a car that costs >$45k. I can deal with a replacement component or bolt.

After taking the plant tour twice since the debut I can say Quaility and Paint are tops on the quality control list, It's what they are marketing heavy. Every station on the line has a fob to stop the line. I'm glad they caught something now AND it sounds cosmetic.

Well, then its a gigantic roundy round. I can tell you most of whats happening is scratches. No panel painting or goofups like that...

Thanks, I really appreciate it! Hey, what kind of goodies did you order on your SHO?

Another thing that just occurred to me, are the SHO's that are on dealer lots at this moment affected or not?

Everything but the massaging seats and adaptive cruise control. I didn't care for the seats back in June and I don't drive all that far to use the $1200+/- cruise control feature. Now that I look back, I should have just added them two to the car. Oh well, live and learn I guess.

And they may be affected, or may not. If they are affected, and it's something minor they'll send out a TSB to alert the consumer/dealer and repair it. If its a safety concern, then that's what recalls are for.

Just a quick update on mine. My dealer called to tell me that my car "released" today but it still has a delivery date of TBD. Maybe things are starting to move. My car was built July 20th.

as previously stated, you should see a large in-flux of regular taurus's and SHO's coming to dealers within the next several weeks...
