Shoforum members, would you please be so kind to help me decipher these trouble codes ((13, 32, 66) on my 94 SHO ATX and what may be involved to correct these issues. FYI, my exhaust mufflers and piping is in need of replace and repair. Not sure if this problem causes these codes to appear. The check engine light pops on from time to time. Sometimes it stays on for a few minutes, other times it stays off for a short drive, less than an hour. Your help is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Edward

If you need, take a video and post it so we can watch it and explain how to count out the codes. They will be "current" codes from low to high, repeated, then a single flash as a separator, then the "stored" codes from low to high, repeated. It helps if you tell us which are current and which are stored.

I took 2 video's, engine off and engine on. Both are too large to post here. I can file share via text or maybe email.

The 1st set of codes, car off are as follows. Blinked 111 then paused and blinked 111 again then paused followed by just one blink. After this one blink, the following codes: 176, 212, 214, 332, and 543. These codes were repeated once thereafter.

Interesting set of codes if they are correct. The check engine light comes on how does the car perform? Issues other than exhaust? There should be w away to post them but I am not the person who knows how to do that.

Since there are expected things with exhaust issues like O2 sensor codes but also unexpected things like SPOUT errors, I would save the vid from what you just got, disconnect the battery for a little while to erase the computer memory, drive it for a while and see what codes return.

Also if there are issues you are experiencing other than just the light popping on you should list them. If it is slight running issues it may be difficult to correct if the exhaust problems are close enough to the front to mess up the oxygen sensor readings which effect air:fuel ratio adjustments made by the computer. If it's only back by the mufflers then that's not a big deal except for carbon monoxide maybe getting in the cabin.

Recently, it's been starting ruff after running for awhile. Although it drives fine when the check engine light comes on. The exhaust is the only known issue other than these codes now. The alternator has been replaced recently. The previous owner supposedly installed a 3.0 cam and ported the heads. New plugs and wires have been installed too.

I might have a very small leak from the exhaust manifold near firewall. The flex pipe seems ok. Most of the exhaust leak's are in the back after the resonator. Both mufflers need replacing. And maybe some of the piping in the back. Northeast Muffler in Millerton NY is correcting in 2 weeks. Still uncertain about exhaust manifold, but will have them double check.

Do you know of a reference list of these trouble codes I can view? SPOUT error, what's that? lol

Btw, I'm most appreciative of your time and guidance, thanks!

I've disconnected the battery and will leave unconnected overnight. I will keep you posted.

They were also accessible from zoomlater's posted link above. When was the alt replaced? Failing alts can throw all manner of strange codes. Keep an eye on its performance as many reman units are not very reliable. However I would clear all the codes and see what returns. If the manifold has a good enough leak it could set off the O2 sensors I imagine.

Oops, sorry I missed those codes zoom. Thanks for sharing.
The alt was replaced last week. The tranny was also rebuilt this past Sept.

clear the memory, drive it around and see what codes pop back up. Once something reappears you can narrow the causes. Could be a cam sensor could be other things.

176 = lean on front bank, oxy sensor not switching
212 = cam sensor signal erratic
214 = error in cam sensor
332 = intermittent egr not opening correctly
543 = fuel pump code - ignore this one

136 = front bank oxy sensor not switching
536 = boo not switching during test - operator error
521 is not on my list of codes

Start by replacing the front oxy sensor, since it is not functioning. Reset the pcm by pulling the fuse or battery cable to reset the fuel trim codes when you do this. The check engine light will turn on when the engine is operated in the cell where the fuel trims are maxed out (176 code) and stay on for ~30 seconds each time. The new oxy sensor should solve that.

After you fix that, drive it a week or so and pull the codes again - you want to make sure that the cam sensor codes do not reappear. If they do reappear, then change the cam sensor.

If the egr not opening properly is a current situation, that will also turn on the check engine light at those times when the egr is supposed to be open but is not.

Hey Banshee, not yet. I've put off troubleshooting and repairing my codes for awhile. Looking forward to finding some time this summer to correct. I will advise then. Cheers, Edward
