imo, $3k is kinda steep for 263k miles, even if its in outstanding shape. On the other hand, if tons of stuff has been replaced, it might be okay. I'd say that's definitely on the high side.

If it's a nice clean body, and the maintenance is all up to date (60k tune ups done), then it may be worth putting $2.5k into buying it.

Easy way to tell if the engine has been ignored is to pull one of the front sparkplug wires. If the 'hole' is full of oil then you know the engine is in need of some work and price offered for the car should drop accordingly, say $2k max...

Eibach and kyb shocks are a big no no. IT will ride like shit and bounce all over in a matter of a month or two. That right there is reason enough not to pay 3k.

I have to agree with the past feedback. My '93 MTX cost me $2,200 and I thought that was a little high.

Taking the Blue Book numbers with you might help you negotiate the price down.

Ditto!

I'm selling a 94 atx with ALOT more maint. done than that. It only has 150K on it, plus I have ALL the paperwork to back it!
Good luck with the 'haggling':thumb:

3 grand is prob. what he put into the car and is looking to get back, but for some reason these cars don't hold there value. Between the last 3 owners of the car i'm selling there's prob. over 5+ grand into. If the hope to sell it any time soon he's gonna have to bit the bullet, that's just the way it goes w/ these cars. Hope this helps!

Actually, I believe Benicia is in California, not Canada.

and it would be better if that was in Kms, would be only ~ 163K miles.

And I'll overlook the insane canadian crack, this time. Next time I'll send my pet polar bear downthere beat ya down with a dead Salmon... :smash:

to a degree, my mtx had the 60k done and was very well taken care of, I pulled a plug wire when I bought it and with only 35k on that 60k it had oil in the plug wells already.

Just picked up a 95 with 106k for $1500. It needed alot of work but runs great now:thumb: It seems really high. I would work it down. No matter what, the cars not worth that much unless you did the work on the car.:naughty:

$3,000?!?!?!?!

hello... i am new the SHO but i think this $3,000 is an outrageous price. I just picked up a 93' MTX with 178,*** for $550. All i had to do is replace the clutch and it runs great. The interior is close to mint, but the rear quarter panels are a little rusty. $3,000 is rediculous. By the way any one know where i can find a twin turbo kit for the 93? :hail:

i picked up my 93MTX for $300. sure it needed the 60k, has a SLO front bumper and headlights needs a new spoiler and a little tweeking but i think if you look around a good one can be had for closer to $1500 and then you have the other $1500 for parts and whatnots.

What everyone is getting at is that its over priced. You could buy that car, try to sell it the next day for the same price and Good Luck finding someone else to pick it up at that price. Sometimes you gotta know when to hold'em and when to fold'em, this is one of those times, if he wont go lower pass it up, better deals will come, eventually...

I'm going to be blunt here: It doesn't matter how much maintenance it has had. That 93 MTX would only be worth the price if it had a new engine, rod bearings had been completed, had a good smog check, a new clutch, and records and the window sticker going back to the original seller, without a single ding or paint mark...

Barring that, that car is worth, at the very most, $1,500. I wouldn't pay more than $1,200 for it. There are a good number of SHOs around California. My advice would be: wait. Wait for a deal. A deal will come up eventually. Alternately, wait for a car actually worth the price.

With a transmission at that high of a mileage, you're looking at major maintenance issues should you decide to keep it, and probably in a short period of time. The fact the car is modded probably indicates it has had a hard life - not to mention, if the owner isn't an enthusiast, it likely has not had complete and proper maintenance.

I would stay miles away

"There's a good number of sho's around here" is what stands out to me from what I just read from one cali to another.
Midwest and East coast there's not alot to chose from sometimes, I'm still in shock the word "rust" was never mentioned.
