The good: Body and interior are in excellent condition. Has some paint flaking off the lower front bumper, but other than that the body is perfectly straight and the paint is great. No rust anywhere. The original owner had the car and rims pearl coated before taking delivery when it was new. Not gaudy, pretty subtle and looks great in the sun. Also has Yamaha emblems in place of the blue Ford ovals.
Gray interior is also in great shape, just a little wear showing on driver's seat, no tears anywhere. Everything works with the exception of the power passenger seat (well it works, but you have to use your feet to help it move), and the radio buttons on the upper dash near the instrument cluster, and the only reason they don't work is because I replaced the factory stereo with a Kenwood unit. Also has new speakers, including a new driver in the factory sub enclosure, new power antenna, and Boss amps. The stereo install was very well done with everything routed and hidden properly. That being said, I'd like to keep the head unit and amps if possible, but if the new owner wants them we can work something out. Turn signals don't self-cancel, but I have a brand-new multifunction switch that will go with the car.
New headlights and fish tanks just over a year ago. New windshield last fall.
New steering rack, tie rod ends, front tires, and power steering rack within the last 3 months. New PS pump 4 months ago.
Transmission is quiet and shifts as it should.
A/C works, EATC works, rear defroster works, power windows and mirrors all work! Tinted windows too!

The bad: Was driving it home late Wednesday night when the oil light came on. Pulled over immediately and found that it had puked its oil out, somewhere in the area of the front cover/harmonic balancer. Could be something simple, or could have lost a seal. The engine was still running quietly when I shut it down, I don't think it was damaged at all.

The odometer currently shows about 140,000 miles, but I was told by the previous owner that the engine was rebuilt at around 103,000 miles. No way to verify that. ETA: found this old for sale ad online, says motor was rebuilt. http://usedcarsfsbo.com/asp/Item.asp?soldid=45721&make=ford&theday=2/24/2011

As we all know, these SHOs tend to need some looking after. I'm a Mustang guy, and honestly, would much rather tinker with them than this SHO. Other than the oil thing, this car is in amazing condition, but it's just not my cup of tea.

I'll let it go as it sits for $1500. With or without Kenwood stereo and Boss amps is negotiable.

Price is only good if I don't have to open the hood to find out what happened with the oil. If I gotta work on it again, the price will go up.

Oh my gosh. This is freaky man. I have not logged in to shoforums in well over a year. Maybe two. Tonight I decide to log in just to take a peak around. And here is my old SHO for sale. How'd she get out to Nebraska? Good luck with the sale. :)

Tater, anything to add? Was the engine/trans ever rebuilt?

Great looking SHO.

Tool,

Well, if Sarge doesn't mind, here is a link to my sale thread from 2010:

http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=111763

Keep in mind, many of the things I listed as "the bad" probably have been fixed.

I can say for sure that the engine was rebuilt (at 106,***) as it needed it and I know that was the buyer's intention. I don't know anything about the transmission. The trans was working fine for me.

Anyway, I'm only trying to help. Sarge, if you want me to delete this, just let me know.

Good luck. I do think about/miss her often. :)

I don't mind, and yes, everything you listed as bad was repaired before I got the car. Except the antenna, I replaced that myself.

Very nice car.
Good luck with the sale.
Although most people on this forum will argue with this.... the trend for the next generation of car hobbiest is toward having an automatic trans. The generation after that doesn't have an interest in cars at all.
This car looks good enough to keep.

Are you willing to drop the price? I understand you are looking at a considerable loss at your current price point but keep in mind it sold in 2010 for $500 or so with a bad motor which I can only assume is where the car is once again. I'm also looking at a 9 hour one way trip to collect it.
Not trying to offend or lowball, just speaking from my perspective. This is too nice of a car to scrap....

$1000 through this weekend, and I'll keep the stereo.

It'll be warmer after that, and I should have my Mustang done, so I'll look at the SHO next. Like I said, if I gotta work on it, the price will go up accordingly. And if it's just a seal, and the motor is good (like I think it is), I'll be looking for $2500-$3000.

Last chance to pick it up cheap.

Glad it sold. Hey, I was going through some files recently and I found some of my SHO paperwork for this car. Including maintenance, radiator (w/ lifetime warranty), water pump, etc. I even found the Aug '07 recall paperwork for the cruise control (I never ended up taking it in). Please let me know if the new owner wants this stuff. I also have the original orange corner lights in my garage that I forgot to give to the buyer.

What happened with it?

I can answer that. I bought it from Sarge and it is sitting in my garage in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The seal was replaced and everything is working fine.

I do have a question as long as I have some former owners here: The windshield cracked and broke this winter, sometime in January. So, that's the second windshield in two years. Do you suppose the defroster is blowing direct heat onto the windshield in the extreme cold, which is in turn, cracking the windshield?

Ptatohed,

I would like all those items. I will PM you my address, and we can figure out how to get those to me.

Thank you,

-Mark

Mark,
I replaced the windshield because it got cracked by a flying rock in a construction zone.

But yes, blowing hot air on a cold windshield will definitely crack it. Best way is to set it to defrost before the engine warms up, while it is still blowing cold air, and let the windshield warm up slowly.
