I'm re listing 1990 Electric Red SHO on the market. I have included numerous pictures here:

http://s182.photobucket.com/albums/x105/kmetros/SHO/

The car currently has around 107K miles on it. Those of you who have seen it in person can attest to its overall quality.

The paint is fantastic. There are some minor stone chips on the front bumper and leading edge of the hood, as well as on the lower rocker panel in front of the rear wheel. There are also a couple of other minor scuffs that are documented in the photographs. One wheel has some minor curb rash on it and one has some clear coat peeling off (see photograph). New Yokahama AVS ES100’s were put on last year before the convention and still have a ton of tread left on them.

Mechanically the engine is excellent condition, with no leaks what so ever. It does burn some oil, but that’s usually just at the track when the car is in the boost a lot. The engine has been powder coated and looks excellent. The air conditioning, however, does not work. The previous owner had it recharged and said it worked for a few days, then quit. So, I assume that there is just a leak somewhere in the plumbing. Since it’s a fair weather only car for me I didn’t worry about it and never got it fixed. The car was dyno tuned several years ago and put 317 WHP to the ground and still pulls strong.

The interior of the car is flawless. No tears in the seats, although the drivers side seat bolster was replaced with a high quality vinyl that has worn very well. After I purchased the car I replaced the interior carpet and added a Gen II center console, which is much quieter and more functional storage wise.

As far as any shortcomings, the door and trunk jambs could use some freshening up. They need to be painted and clear coated to really look sharp. This wouldn’t be that hard as it’s all I did in the engine compartment and that turned out really nice. The airbag system for the driver’s side is not compatible with the FR500 steering wheel. If you put a stock steering wheel back in it the airbag will then function properly. Again, the air conditioning doesn’t work. The passenger side strut tower paint under the hood is crackling and could use a repaint. It can be seen in the passenger side under hood shot. I think it also need a new front motor mount.

I am asking $6,500 for the car as it sits, including the car cover, the original seat belts and numerous spare parts and sensors and a two-inch thick folder full of receipts and documentation. This is a $2K reduction from last year.....I'm just ready to have it gone so that I can start seriously start looking for a replacement. I also have a Quaife LSD that’s waiting to be installed that I am also selling that the purchaser will have first refusal on. I’m asking $1,395 for that. I also have a set of used track tires and rims that the purchaser will have first refusal on for $500. If the buyer of the car doesn’t want them, then I’ll sell them separately.

I have thought about taking the big stuff off (blower, headers, true dual exhaust, roll cage, etc) and selling it separately but just don’t have the time to do it right now. I guess that’s an option for someone who really likes the car, but doesn’t care if it’s blown and would like to re-coup as much as $4K of the purchase price.

Please note that this car would really not make the most functional daily driver. It rides hard, it’s loud, and it only has two seats. While I have never had a single problem with the car (other than replacing the clutch) and would be comfortable driving it from Indiana to California, it’s not simple to work on with all of the blower hardware and the long tube headers. If you have no idea how to work on a SHO and rely on a mechanic for your service work this probably isn’t the car for you. And, no, I don’t plan on being your mechanic if you buy it from me! ;-) The car is being sold AS IS. As I stated, it has been VERY reliable, but at the same time it’s an 18 year old car that has a supercharger on it. If you pull a hole shot at the end of my driveway and blow the tranny after giving me the check, that’s your problem.

After almost 15 years of SHO ownership I’m selling this car only because I want something a little more refined and of the V8 RWD variety.

If you have any questions, please let me know. You can reach me via e-mail [email protected]. If you want to talk in person, just let me know and I can give you a call.

Good luck with the sale! I wanted this car last year and I still want it now. If it is still available in July maybe we will talk about it.

I really didn't put that much money into it. The previous owner did. I learned that lesson a long time ago!

No kidding. I suspected I should do the buy it now, as the bidding went up $1500 in about 3 hours. So after lunch, I logged on, ready to take the plunge, and when I get there I see that it was sold.

Oh well, in the end, it may be for the best. What would the world think of 'turbo' Toolman sportin' a Vortech powered car.

Wow this was one car that almost tempted me to get another SHO.

Hope the new owner appreciates it!
