Will they fit? Don't know for sure, but here are some numbers from my 92. 16 X 7" wheel, 36mm offset. in the rear I have about 1" between the wheel and the strut. The 8.5, being 1.5 wider will add 3/4" to the inside and outside, then move everything inward 12mm because of the offset differences. My math says that you will try to put about 1-3/16" of wheel in a 1" space. Sounds like it will be real close, kind of a trial and expensive error sort of deal. The good news is, the strut angles away from the wheel, so the taller the wheel, the bigger the gap. But, maybe only an extra 1/8" gap for an extra 1" wheel radius increase. The fronts have a little more room, but the tire also flexes more there. If you try it, let us know how it works out.

I dont see a problem for the front, but the rear will all the depend on how wide/tall of tire your going with, with the 18's if you can try to go a little lower offset if its an option, like 42mm-45mm.

I've had 47mm 19x9 rims on my SHO with 235/35/19 tires, the front looked flush with the fender just like my current 18x8 40mm (235/40/18 tires) setup but the rear look to damn close, probaly would rub if I drove it but all I did was let it down from the lift because they werent my wheels just a fav I asked for :) .

All and all I think you'll have better luck with your SHO because it isnt lowered 2.5"/1.75" like mine is hehe :p , seriously though with the right offset they will fit, like jdh00's fit with 38mm 17x9 rims and 245/45/17 tires.
