Ok so ive done alot of reading and most threads that people even think about posting about 17x9s people shoot them down, however, i'm looking at getting a set of wheels for r compound tires in the spring. Ideally i would like to get all the tire i can. I know that in the past a view people have run 17x9s with some sucess, for me i want to run a 275/40 which i have not seen. Since these would be used only on the track i wouldn't care if they stuck out. I have found a place that sells 17x9 thunderbird cobra rims in 24mm offset that i have been eyeing now but want to see if anybody has pics of 17x9s on a gen 1 or gen2. The other thing that i have read is that the 17x9 cobras are kinda heavy so i was wondering if anybody knows of companies that will drill there wheel blank to our bolt pattern and hub diameter? Currently I have intrax and tokico with one coil cut from the front, for wheels i have 17x8 td pr1.2s with 245/45 tires and the rear wheel wells rolled. The problem i foresee is the rear fenderwells especially if coilovers go on the car it will probably go lower but when that time comes i am prepared to make some fiberglass flares.

I believe they are still on the car and they were a custom wheel that probably were somewhere around 2-3k.

Pat's car has CCW's. I thought they were 9" or 9.5" fronts and 8" rears... Either way, he was running 245's all around I think.

The 275/40-17s are pretty tall tires, not to mention wide. I think you'd have a tough time getting them to not hit the fenders on a SHO.

Thats what i am afraid of but 275 /40 is the same h eighth as 245/45.

I know there was a couple green shos running 17x9s, i thought the one with lambo doors had them and then actually i think the other one was a plain taurus. Ive thinking for awhile after seeing a couple tutorials on making fiberglass fender about hacking up the rear fenders because the really need some work around the wheel well anyways because of the typical rust. Just looking to see if anybody has done this and has pics before i bite off more than i can chew.
