Hey I have a gen II and had bought a set of 12" SPL 1200w speakers from a friend for my Geo Storm (insert your mocking here), I wanted to fit them into my rear deck of the SHO and dump the factory set up...has anyone ever done this?..
I have an Audiobahn 800w amp to power them with an extra battery and dual battery isolator ect....
But can the deck be made to fit right?
I looked at it and the problem seems to be with the deck being irregular and not flat enough to accept the hole I want to cut out...I could just hack away and bootleg something....but the car is very clean and I know appearence counts with these cars.
I thought about even cutting the whole back deck out and fabbing my own in place. But I was worryied that if I hit a turn too fast the body flex of the car would pop out the back window...And the speakers are WAY to big to add a strut tower bar.
I do not want to have a trunk "kicker box" thing cuz they would get ruinend with all the tools I keep in the trunk.
Any help or advice would be greatlly appreciated.
thank you

well unless they are free air subs i wouldnt recommend this due to the sound might be kinda crappy. i went with a single 12 setup and love it still have room for mass amounts of tools and didnt weigh alot. if youre stuck on doing the rear deck setup trade em for free air subs. thats my .02

Would be a better and simpler idea to set them up in the trunk and make a net or divider to keep your tools away from them. I'm going to assume that since these are SPLs, they require a decent amount of box volume. Sounds like you will have space problems with these no matter what.

I'm running two 12's in my SHO. I put them in an enclosure and ported it into the passenger compartment......Sounds sweet.

This is a possibility to help save some space. What size is the enclosure? Can you use the trunk at all? Would heavy objects in the trunk cause damage to your subs if left unsecured? These are all things to think about for this particular application.

if its feasable, mount your amp under a seat or in the stock location to save space as far as the box goes if you find a good box builder they can use the slant from the back seat to add volume that way without having the box sticking way out basically so you dont waste space. face them toward the back of the trunk (sealed or ported) i would go sealed since you have a descently powerful amp. good luck.

You can mount an amp almost anywhere just as long as you don't mount it upside down, or in a spot where it will not be able to dissipate heat. The back of the seat would be a good spot except our seats do not fold down, so the custom enclosure at the back of the rear seat would not allow that mounting location.

Maybe you should just sell them and get something that is less huge. Solo-Barics and Infinity Kappas are designed for small enclosures. eBay has lots of this stuff at a steal.

Sell them?......but then how can I anger my neighbors?
These things are bangin' ......... I doubt I could get more then $150 for the pair on ebay. I will just hold off till I have warmth enough to fab a new back deck ..... but will doing that mess up my structural integrity?....I don't want to pop out a window or twist my frame on a hard turn.
