I noticed I forgot to do those tiny lil bulbs in each of the vanity mirrors.
I'm strictly in a research mode right now as it pertains to the tails. The main issue is finding an LED set up that is bright even to compensate for my smoked tails.
That and I'd like to re-wire the upper bulbs so that when the brake pedal is pressed, both the upper and lower bulbs brighten in relation to the brake pedal being depressed. Currently, just the lower bulb is dual filament and wired differently than the single filament upper.
Also, factoring in relays and/or resistors (to prevent hyper flash) as well as where to place those relays/resistors is also a preliminary issue I've noticed so umm yea.....
Someday man, no rush at the moment. I have other performance related and other paint mods in the pipeline that I'd like to tackle first.
Thanks for the kudos on my write-up and funny you mention the entire "burning of one's retinas" cuz I pointed it out the LED's in the vanity mirrors to my teenage daughter when she hopped in the front seat today and her eyes popped out of her head (figuratively speaking) and she was like "woah Dad, those are a little bright"..... bwahahaha, good stuff.
Thanks UD for the props.
I am neat about my silicone use and I opted for that in lieu of the CA glue you mention due to the temp extremes we experience here in the Chi-Town metro area.
That and if, God forbid, I ever need to replace an LED down the road, opening up the housings would be much easier by way of cutting through the silicone rather than having to cut (or saw) open the assemblies a second time (if I opted for using the glue that is).
But to each his/her own. W/E works for your application is best.
The "how-to" write up is simply just to get people to that point.
But great suggestion indeed for those who may not feel comfortable rock'n the silicone to use the glue instead! So.....:thankyou:
FYI... The Flex has the same light under our mirrors so this "How TO" is good for all Flex's. My guess is that Lincoln's (MKS & MKT).....and likely the new Explorer, are also the same.
Great idea and terrific write-up!
