After doing some searching, I have a few specific questions.

Before I start I want everyone to know that I'm going with 13" Cobra Fronts, and I realize there is a chance I may lose my E-brake. The E-brake thing shouldn't be much of an issue being an ATX. Also, I have 17"s that will clear the 13" fronts.

With that out of the way...I'd like to add the 11.6" Rears.

Looks like i have two option, correct?
1) Backdate my current solid rear calipers to the Vented Rears.
2) I did a search and Mikey from Midwest SHO was using the Calipers from a 96+ SHO so he could still use the 598 Pads. Look Here: http://www.shoforum.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=001560#000000

From my search it looks like more people backdate their rears, but I'd prefer doing something similar to #2. Assuming there are no problems using 96+ calipers in rear I could probably use my front 95 calipers in the rear with my 96+ caliper brackets, Josh's Adapter, a hub-centric ring, and rear bias Plugs.
Correct? Thats all I would need correct?

The reason i'd like to put my 95 calipers back there is b/c i just bought the 96+ caliper brackets and size 598 PFCM pads.
So I could backdate but I'd rather not have to deal with returning my 96+ stuff.

I beg to differ: with an ATX, the loss of the parking brake is a big issue.

I agree with sdpatt. I would not want to loose my e-brake. Parking on flat surfaces is not a big deal but the first time you have to park on a big hill, you might not get it back out of park.

I went with the 91 calipers and brackets so I did not loose my e-brake.

I haven't had a parking brake for a year now and have had no issues getting the car out of park.

Regardless, sticking with the lighter stock calipers allows you to keep your parking brake, and reduces the sprung weight. In hindsight, it's what I would have done and what most others did.

Question?

I have the 96 Upgrade on the front already. Do i need to do anything else to install the 11.6 rotors on the rear?

Thanks!

Xroll2001,

Yes, you need a center ring and a custom made bracket.

Will,

You have the least roll of any of the cars in that pic. Your car must handle like it's on rails! How do you like the BMR arms now that you've had them a few days?

Thanks to all who replied.
Looks like I will just go ahead and backdate to the rear's. Better safe than sorry. Don't want to pull a headbang later. I'm gonna email Josh tonight.

Anyone know a source that can get Cobra Caliper Brackets?

Will,

Do you have any close-ups of the Brake Bias valve(Plugged)? Just curious.

Also, are those Earl's SS Brakelines? I recently purchased those when I was only planning to do the 96+ brake upgrade, Does the SHO kit easily mount to the front Cobra/PBR calipers? I'm assuming they are a direct fit on the backdated calipers even though the kit is listed for 94-95 SHO's.

Mike,

It is totally awesome! The BMR arms are great, I guess. I mean, I put everything on at the same time so I don't know how much of a difference they may have made. There is very little body roll and even as stiff as the suspension is, it really soaks up the bumps. I can take corners around my area much, much faster than before. My instructor was thoroughly impressed with the handling given the size and weight of the car. He asked what kind of racing tires I had on it. I told him they were street tires with less than a thousand miles and he didn't believe me until we got out.

For two hard laps I was all over that yellow S2000 you see in the background. My instructor said he was a fast driver, as he had rode with him in the previous session. The S2000 would slowly pull away from me down the straights. The front straight is 3000 feet long and he would get about 2-3 car lengths on me but then I would reel him right back in with the brakes and in the turns.

The driver of the S2000 came over after the session and was all excited and said "I didn't want to let a SHO four door family car pass me" Said he was going as fast as he could and was quite impressed.

I'm happy that I could hang with a lightweight 2 seat sports car with 240hp and 9000 rpm redline in my little old family car. :D

Hail to the SHO! hail

Yes, they are earl's lines. I bought my PBR calipers off a fellow sho owner who had bought them and not used them. They had the brake line bolt with them and yes the Earl's fit with no problem. The 95 caliper line bolt(or whatever you call it) will not screw into the PBR caliper. It is threaded different. So if your PBR calipers come with the banjo(I think that what you call it) bolt and the two little copper washers then your Earl's line will work fine.

They bolt right up to the rears also. My banjo bolt from my 95 calipers threaded right into the 91 caliper so they are tapped the same.

OK I admit to being an idiot but... what advantage is there to pluging those and getting rid of the lever?

2 Has anyone looked at using the rear calipers and rotors from a cobra if the fronts fit (with redrilling) what about the backs, then you could keep your park brake eh?

1) The reason to plug the proportioning valve is to allow Full flow to the rears. You would only want to do this with larger/upgraded brakes, not the stock setup.

2) I don't think there is anything special about the Cobra rear caliper, but I could be wrong. One advantage of the fronts is the two piston design.

FYI: Bias Plugs are currently out of stock.

Will, have you checked the front brake lines for rubbing on the tires? Both John Hrinsin and I had to rig up a helper spring to keep the Earl's lines off the inside sidewall at full lock.

Seeing as you have the same setup, also with 17 x 8" wheels, you will probably have the same problem.
