I put a 10" sub in the factory enclosure, I also have a 200 watt amp that I would like to mate to the factory head unit to the sub. I know I dont want to hack the wires up if I dont have to, what bypass connections do I need and where can I get them?

You need a high/low converter. Not the technical term, but most people in audio will know what you mean.

Converts High level signal ( from speaker wires ) to low level signal (RCA's)

You need to specify it is for an amplified ford system so they get you the right one.

I would think you could get it at any place that sells audio equipment.
Best buy or an independent shop.

Tap the converter into the rear speaker wires and then you have RCA jacks for your amp.

EDIT: Its called a line output converter
Here is an example : http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Bt1RIExRLUK/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=142SLC4&g=721&search=converter

You can use a line out converter or an another option, you can use the high level input on your amp. Although *usually* the built-in converter isnt as good as a good aftermarket one, it will serve the same purpose.

You will need to tap into the positive and neg. of the left and right rear speaker. Run those wires to the amp (as well as your power wires) and your good to go.

Will High level inputs on an amplifer work correctly if the factory system
is amplified ?

10" sub in the factory box???? Holy lack of airspace, batman!!!

Anyway, running LOCs (Line Out Converters) is the easiest and by far the best way to do what you wanna do. You'll get FAR better sound with the LOCs than you will with a high level input. High level input, in my ever so humble opinion, sounds like crap. I ran LOCs on my stock 99 Cutlass deck and it made my sub VERY happy...piece of advice...if you can, get the adjustable ones and have the dude at the car audio shop set em for ya. It'll raise the signal going to the amp so you don't have to run your gain so high....it'll also give a much clearer sound.

That's my $0.01. But then, what do I know?
