I'm not an engineer...
I've been reading post after post after post and I've been wondering- How do particles of the catalytic converter get sucked back into the engine? I have seen a few posts with people talking about this problem, or listing it as a fear they have, but... I don't understand how this could occur...- RustySho

NACA duct?
NACA actually stands for something...an acronym...but i cant remember what it is. they're shaped---kind of like the end of an eyedropper. the forward end is narrow and the rearward end is wide...and they're curved concave on either side. the 69-73 mach 1 had NACA ducts on the hood. I was looking at the hood of my SHO today, pondering and lamenting the broken transmission, when I thought of NACA ducts. In the ford tradition (69-73 mach 1, GT40, et al.) There's no reason to be sensitive to me...i's a big boy. Besides, I bought this for a project anyway (AutoX/maybe....rally? I live in the country and there's lots of curvy dirt and gravel roads around me---with 55mph speed limits....to practice) I'm just slightly ****** that the tranny...- RustySho

Yes---I did test drive the car. I bought it on Ebay and drove before I bid. I don't know how that could go unnoticed or maybe I just didn't drive it hard enough to uncover any problems. I'm keeping the car though. There's no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater...It'll be awhile...- RustySho

I've got transmission woes...and I don't exactly know what they are. Last week i bought my first SHO--an 89 in titanium with basket weave wheels...it had the usual taurus rust on the decklid and a little around the doors but it ran beautifully and I took it home....after paying the man 700...- RustySho
