to clear up a bit of confusion;

Ford windstar/Taurus/ Sable/ rims will fit SHO

Volvo/Lincoln MarkVIII/Thunderbird/cougar wheels have the same bolt pattern but wrong offset. GEN2 owners will have no problems but the they will rub on the GEN1 unless you do some trimming.

ANy body know of any other Factory wheels that fit?

No, most FWD Vovlo's use the same offset as the Taurus/Sable. The 17 x 8.0" Borbet type E's on my car have a 40mm offset and were design for the Volvo S80 and fit the SHO just fine. With the wide 245 tires, I need very thin (2mm to 2.5mm)rear wheel spacers to keep the tires off the strut tubes. A custom set of 8.0" wide rims with 42mm front and 38mm rear offset would be perfect for a Gen II with 245 wide tires.

Now Volvo uses a slightly larger hub bore diameter than Ford, 65mm vs 63.5mm so the Volvo rims on a Ford will not be hubcentric, but they will fit and work. You just have to be very carefull tighten the lug nuts.

I have 18x8's with low profiles and over speed bumps and bumps on the HWY the rear drivers side tire always rubs against the rear fender, no other wheel does it, what could cause this?

Uh...read my post again. I realize I wasn't emoting very clearly but I said that they wouldn't fit GEN1 SHOs but that GEN2s would have no problem. The Thunderbird wheel DOES NOT fit GEN1 SHOs in the rear unless you are willing to trim the inner fender lip.

sorry about adding to the confusion

What are you hoping to accomplish with these bigger wheels? Is it aesthetics? Bigger wheels= heavier wheels unless you use some of the newer lightweight forging technology.

Your rear/drivers side spring/shock is worn and allowing the car to dip just that extra bit to rub, btw is your suspension stock or lowered?

Because with my 18x8's and 2.5"/1.75" drop I get no rubbing and I get no suspension travel squint lol but so far for 2yrs no rubbing.

steevil there is a black Gen I on the forum with 245mm tires, 17x9 chrome Cobra's and it is lowered, I dont think he ever touched his rear fenders but I could be wrong :confused: .

could be just me. I have the SHO Shop lowering springs and tried stock Thunderbird rims. Rubbed like crazy in the back.

My buddy also tried them on his GEN 1 at stock height, rubbed like crazy to.

FYI, they won't fit a GEN 2 sable either. Tried them on the wifes car and the rears rubbed.

They eventually found there way to my father-in -laws Windstar.
