Removing the intake silencer...

Where is the intake silencer, and how do you remove it?

Remove the drivers side turn signal and you can see kind of a cone looking object. Just get ahold of it with a pair of pliers or something and give her ****. It should pop out. There is nothing holding it in there. It might fight you a it though. Good luck!

I just removed the drivers side wheel and reached under there to remove it; it is a tight fit but will come out.

on my 94 there were two bolts holding it in

Done it to three cars, red mtx, silver atx, green atx. always pulled it through the wheel well.

+1 the wheel well is a PITA to remove compared to the corner light, as said above, grab one side of it with a pair of pliers and PULL, mine came right out

I took mine through the wheel well. Major PITA but I just yarded on it and it came out. A bolt in my corner light was messed up and was going to crack the housing so I left it alone.

take driver side wheel off remove skirt remove 2 bolts that hold the air box to the side wall pull off silencer cone and box remove silencer cone dremel out box to square put back on and call it good

No need to remove skirt and airbox from fender; just remove the wheel, and the horn will come off of the box and out through the opening.

Yup. I had to notch the edge of mine to get is past a stud that was sticking out. It didn't matter since I was pitching it anyway. You could probably avoid notching it if you were more patient.

FYI, the car sounds way cooler if you remove the whole outer box and not just the cone.

Sounds cooler with it off but I put my box back on after removing it for a year or so, and it runs better overall with it back in, with the horn removed.

dont be lazy...take wheel off and move the skirt out of the way...take the bolts out and remove the whole silencer nt just the cone

Hasn't yet. Should be ok, as long as you have the inner fender liner in. Beyond that, if water gets in, it was going to anyways - oh and you're probably in a lake.

Or you forgot your driving a Taurus, not your Amphicar. And I do have to fender liner in so, i should be fine.

first off the quiet engine is a nice commodity, second- where the intake goes to the fender is protecting it from rain, water and excess dirt 3-the cold air dwells underneath the fender and if you have ever heard of installing a "hot air intake" I am surprised.
