slo gauge cluster in a SHO

if I swap a slo gauge cluster in my SHO will the speedo read correctly? I am curious to see how fast the needle will sweep ona 85mph cluster :angelnot:

I thought the cluster was run by a cable, and there was a small gear in the transmission that had to be changed to make it work right/ Or is that gear in the cluster?

No. It'll work fine, I had a friend that did just the opposite in a mustang 5.0, The car came with an 85mph speedo and he swaped it out with a 140 speedo from a junkyard and it was still accurate.

I never thought of going backward though, that would be interesting to see.

Yeah, what I understand from pulling a cluster, it's calibrated by the magnetized assembly that the cable turns

You should cut a slit on the bottom of the cluster housing so the needle wont stop below 85. That way we can see how many rotations the needle will go.


Damn how fast we going? Oh, about 3 and a 1/4 turns.
