Someone on here did a test and the COPs were not as powerful as the standard setup. It would work fine on a stock SHO but no sufficient on a f/i SHO. I don't remember the COPs used though...

Corey (1slickred89) used some discarded coils from I believe a 5.4 (possibly newer taurus) with twin DIS. Found the system to be weak because the coils are so small. Do a search for "turbo, igniton fixes" or just pull up all posts by 1slickred89. Basically as he did research finding the COP is not that great and the main reason manufacturers are going to it is because it is cost saving.

exactly, the way I wired it would double the ignition energy, two DIS modules would double the energy (Vs using one module) and it still had much less voltage than the stock DIS system. the coils are too small and saturate quickly, they only have so much capacity. that's not to say that with a smaller gap they couldn't handle more severe conditions, but why downgrade when we have such a great system stock.

as far as what type of power adder would be least ******* the engine I would say big-time water injection on an alcohol fueled, high boost engine. with the timing ******** as much as possible, say lock it at 10 degrees BTDC. all that will move the peak pressure further and further after TDC and reduce the peak load on the piston.

things like nitrous and nitromethane will make the peak pressure very high right after TDC, which would be very ******* the piston, I would guess. I've never seen a pressure trace from an engine that uses either.

is the tranny back in the car yet? get out there and run some 12's!!

ugh ....the attempts at 11 second runs wont be coming as soon as we hoped

the opal frost got pillaged for parts
the parts were received from FPS
the tranny guy assembeled everything
we worked from 8pm thursday till TEN OCLOCK FRIDAY MORNING geting everything assembeled (in an atempt to make it to dunville autodrome @ 4pm)

and as we put the passanger side axle into place we realized theres over a 1/4 inch of slack in all directions betwen the CV shaft and the differential

Called the guy that rebuilt the tranny (localguy) was told its probably fine but if we dont like it we shouldnt run the car

called FPS, talked to doug, explained problem ... he determines that theres a thrust bearing missing and the differential is toast ...and i also think the bearing surface for the cv shaft (in the tranny) is missing, because on the rebuilt tranny that surface is definantly machined aluminium looking ... no gold bearing suface to be seen ...

so now literaly everything has to come back apart

i think this time we will just do it ourselves

This sounds exactly what happened to me way back when I first put my blower SHO together. Before there was the tranny video from SHONUT, I had someone else to put in the quaife. He was an "expert" tranny repairman, worked for GM for 20 years and then opened his own transmission shop. When I got the SHO back from the shop, it leaked tranny fluid from the driver's side axle. He blamed it on a poor quality seal, I purchased a FORD seal and he replaced it. It still leaked, but his advise was to drive it, keep tranny fluid in it, and if it was still leaking in 6 months he would replace it again. Before the 6 months was up, I blew out 3rd gear. Luckily, SHONUT had the video by then and I decided to do the tranny repair myself. When I took the tranny out, I noticed the axles would move a good 1/2" within the tranny housing. Upon inspection I found that he hadn't preloaded the differental at all, it had NO shims at all. ALL of the bearings were toast, and even one of them fell apart when I seperated the case.

The PA SHO shop will have a 11 second sho as soon as area 91 puts his greenbastard driveline into the lighter shell he has out back, he is trapping upwards of 113 MPH in the heavy green 91 i can see it going to 117 or better in the shell thats many hundreds of IBs lighter. thats easy 11 second mph IF it can be luanched properly. problem is he has way to many projects going on right now so it may be a while :(

my stock best was 15.6 @88.9mph, while my average was 15.8. I dropped nearly 3 seconds by adding the turbo what is another 2?

holy noob post

you realize that to do 11's in an all motor sho would require said sho to weigh less then 1900 pounds right ?

meaning the rolling chassis used would have to weigh less then 1100 pounds ....

were planning on hitting 11's in a 3400 pound car with almost zero weight redux, and a bunch of ADDED weight

were already one of the VERY few SHO's thats done 12's AT the drag strip, and we did it on a totaly stock and slowly dieing engine thats already lived for 210,000+ miles

all motor 11's my A55

lol, im sorry i didnt mean to come off like that

i just said that for the naysayers

i fully support you guys and your quest for 11's, i know it can be done on your setup, i was just merely stating that other fat 4dr's have gone as fast/faster than the SHO and that we have alot of catching up to do

that is all

fordbastards ftw!
