Hey josh, What Pistons are you coming out with??? ;) Something like mine? PM me or e-mail if you want to answer. If not thats cool i completely understand! :thumb:

Yes, yours - 93 mm for 3.26L (3.3L), 10:1, 22 mm pin (ATX rods), HD forged for NOS - are one of the models. We also have low comp (8.5:1) in 92 mm (3.2L) and 93 mm (3.26L).

BTW, 93 mm is as big as you can safely go in a thick-walled 93-95 block (ATX or MTX, same thick-wall block casting, different finished bore) before having to worry about hitting the stock 3.2L head gasket, which is 93.6 mm. The 89-92 blocks have thinner walls, and should not be bored past 92 mm (3.2L) without checking for wall thickness.

Now what if someone wanted to go slightly higher compression on the 3.26 pistons? Say 10.5:1 I have been considering something like that for quite a while.

We have a set of those on the shelf too, nice pretty dome on them. They are NOT HD though, can't use NOS on them (though they are still forged) - they are made to be a light-weight road race piston for an all-motor engine, and are quite a bit lighter than the stock piece.

If you want 93 mm, and 10.5:1, AND HD for NOS, we can make those up, takes about 5-7 weeks.

would the weight be less than stock on a 10.5:1 93mm HD piston? I'm kinda thinking that my plans wouldn't really need anything for NOS, I'd rather build around all motor. I would think that on a 10.5:1 93mm plus any NOS I'd be looking at having to have larger injectors, if given all the boltons and doing up true duals.

I believe so, but I'd have to pull the piston build sheets to check, verify if the weight does not include the pins and rings (I don't think so) etc., and compare. Don't forget that the stock SHO pin is REALLY heavy, and it's not uncommon to shed 10 grams (HD pin) to 30 grams (lightweight pin) in the pin alone when going to forged pistons, even if the pistons weigh the same.

BTW, my notes also indicate 433 grams for the stock 3.2L pistons from Hrinsin - can anyone confirm that? I've only got loose 3.0L pistons here.

Josh:

a) have fun at the convention!
b) if you ever get Don K to start shipping the black Pro Race 1's in 17x8, let me know. I currently have 2 sets of 17x8's but they're both heavy wheels. With the removal of the headers & true duals, and dropping the boost to about 10psi, I'm focusing on weight savings now, without sacrificing the wider wheels & tires. Thanks!

Also, the weights for the white 17x7 PR1's (original build, no centercap provisions) ran 15.75lb each when I got mine in last year, FWIW. They tend to over-list the weight online.

Will do.

I just weighed the 16x7 Pro Race II's that just arrived, and they were 14.9 lb.

BTW, the Pro Race II silver is called 'Glitter Silver', and not the ice silver shown. It's more silver than white, i.e. it looks more like the High Power Silver in the pictures than the Ice Silver.

If there's a white car at the convention, that might be doable. Are you going?

Yes, I just bolted the just-arrived 16x7's (bare) on the blower car. Man, these look great in silver on a blue car - I'm never going back to a slicer again ;)

Did I mention the 16x7 is 14.9 lb?

It looks like I can fit a 245/50R16 on the 16x7 as well (same diameter tire as stock, +/- 1 mph or so at 2000 RPM/65 MPH), so these are almost as good as impossible-to-find-in-the-SHO-size 'holy grail' 16x8 in terms of what tires you can put on them.

josh, any pictures? You run intrax, correct? I would DEFINITELY be interested in this setup if it meant i could shave that much weight. Even put a liteweight PBR system to use w/ something that incredibly light! however, i find most 16" 5 spoke rims to be rather... cluttered. something to see, perhaps!

I have a 'good' set of SHO Shop linears, to be replaced by a set of Gary Morrell coilovers sometime this summer.

From the sounds of it, you want a 94-95 knuckle, and our upcoming PBR/Cobra caliper/bracket kit for the 11.6" rotor and 94-95 knuckle, and this super light 16" wheel. This is for the HD Cobra caliper, not the light duty GT caliper. This fits the slicer quite nicely, so it should have no troubles with this wheel either.

The blower car is still on the hoist, so I won't have pictures of the wheels with tires mounted until the end of the week.

Here are some crummy pics, better ones to come later:

:thumb: Very nice! Although I'll still have to wait to see shots of the wheels on a car before I trust going with a 16, I definitely have great interest a HD 11.6" setup. At less than 15lbs, i'm starting to get the ancy pants goin, though!

BTW, if you are in a panic to get a light weight super-HD 11.6 setup for the 94-95 knucle, and can't wait for us to put together the PBR/11.6 setup later this summer, we have the TCE SHO Stopper Jr. (we are the exclusive dealer for those). This uses a light-weight aluminum bracket (the PBR one is cast iron), and also light aluminum Wilwood 4-piston fixed calipers. It's a little more pricey than the 2-piston PBR sliders though.

Here's our really basic Jr. page

mmm... very nice, but definitely budget breaking. I'd rather see that amount of money invested towards a Quaife purchase! What is the deal with the rear upgrades, though? Do the non-ABS'd SHOs dislike the added ummph out back? Perhaps a 11.6" front & rear or a 10.9" out back.. hmm.
