So this didn't occur to until one day last (Google search)cweek as to why the SHO models don't come from the factory with daytime running lights. I did notice that the lesser models, SE through the Limited's do have them only IF they have halogen bulbs. I don't see having an HID bulb on during the day at half power would be good for it. Hence why every SHO I've seen doesn't have them it only made logical sense to me. I'm sure someone knows or could chime in. But I know the canadian built Taurus se-limited have them if ordered from the factory when they were new. I personally don't like having lights on during the daytime but I do like having the autolamps feature!

So I have aftermarket DL for my SHO, gotta day check my links in my signature and see if they are still offering it. There are many critisms out there including my own about this vendors product and quality. Mine still work but hey I added like 2k miles since maybe joining this forum.

Canada requires DLRs on new vehicles. It looks like you can enable them on 13-19 with forscan in the BCM

I believe Canadian SHO's have halogen headlights. The Canadian law requires headlights be used for DRLs. Maybe someone from Canada can confirm.

I agree. I think I'm connecting the dots as canadian SHOs have halogen bulbs as standard equipment vs the US models that come with HIDs as standard without DRLs being available due to the nature of how HIDs operate. Now it all makes sense to me!

I'm in Canada and can confirm, I've stated this a couple other time either here or on the Facebook page. Canadian cars are required to have DRL's, and typically manufacturers achieve this by running the high beam on 6v, with the SHO having HID's, this can't be done. HID ballasts up the voltage to create the reaction in the HID bulb to give light, so the output voltage needs to remain the same regardless of the input voltage.
So for Canadian cars they installed all Halogen housings, and run the high beam on 6v as usual to get DRL's.

That makes logical sense!

I posted in the exterior mods section about something related, I want to put halo/angel eyes on mine that would serve the same as drl's, but So far I haven't been able to nail down the ring size for a front mount around the projector lenses. I even asked one company that specifically sells a kit for our Taurus and they refused to tell me (If it's not correct, we'll send you a replacement).
I think kryptto may have been eluding to the Daytime Bright lights replacement for the lower lights in the bumper covers in his post. I'm on my 3rd set on my daily and it looks like Dan finally corrected the issue with the modules. They're really bright and switch to turn signals. The halo rings in the headlights really sets the car off in terms of looks.

Might get him to replace mine and pay the difference. The Brightlights are nice, just wish there were connectors to take the bumper cover off. The computer box gets toasty.

The good thing was Dan's customer service was always solid about replacing, but if the module had a connector vs hardwired it would have made replacing much easier. I think I have 3+ years on this one, the others were failing in a year or less so fingers crossed, he's got the issue worked out.
802SHO share a couple pics with me on a halo set up he found. It's a nice look and should go well with the Brightlights.
