Hello everyone. I did a search on this topic here, but could not find anything relevant. I got a detail done on the car today both interior and exterior and while looking at the side bottom of the driver seat I noticed there’s some cracks. I figured there’s a way to repair that, but that got me thinking of just getting a whole cloth seat cover as I’m not really a fan of the leather seat. I’ve never had them before and to be honest they kind of remind me of the vinyl seats of older cars. Has anybody put a seat cover over top of their seat? I’m not looking for one from Pep Boys. I want to get a good quality one. Is the best bet going to an upholstery shop?

If the vehicle is new enough to still have inventory in the pipeline you should be able to find oem replacement parts to cover your seats. I had some wear in the cloth driver seat in my '14 f150 a few years ago and was able to buy a factory replacement. Not sure what the price would be but it should be searchable. You just need to verify lower model Taurus seats are the same dimentions for cloth covers.

My Police Interceptor (cloth seats) came with a very high quality seat and headrest cover which also matched the Ford color and texture. Try searching on police equipment supply websites.

Also, the police seats have different shaped bolsters so do some research on fitting the covers to leather.

I found some cracks on my driver seat sides after a detail too, and I opted to move in Wet Okole car seat covers. I was impressed because they were perfectly made to fit the seats of my car. I also liked the high quality of neoprene used since such seats feel better than the vinyl seats we once had. Even though it was a bit expensive to have them, the quality and time it will take you before you think of going to get them checked makes the covers worthwhile. However, you only need to go to any upholstery shop in case you need to get a specific repair.
