Found a Trans/PTU in a wrecked cop car at Pull-A-Part. Should I buy it as a spare?

With this platform - never a bad idea if you have the money. THEN have it rebuilt with premium parts and swap yours out at your leisure or if one of the two start acting up. Not a bad strategy knowing the cost of repair with this car.Found a Trans/PTU in a wrecked cop car at Pull-A-Part. Should I buy it as a spare?
I agree, if the price is good. With this platform - never a bad idea if you have the money. THEN have it rebuilt with premium parts and swap yours out at your leisure or if one of the two start acting up. Not a bad strategy knowing the cost of repair with this car.
Depends on answers to several questions. How many miles on the vehicle? What year, 2016 and newer is more desirable because of improvements to the PTU. Do you have a PP? PP and police final drive is the same. Non PP is different. PP and police have a PTU cooler. Non pp does not.Found a Trans/PTU in a wrecked cop car at Pull-A-Part. Should I buy it as a spare?
I'll have to check the mileage and year... I have a '14PP... I was thinking that I could have this tranny built at some point. Hopefully there will be parts for the PTU at some point.Depends on answers to several questions. How many miles on the vehicle? Thanks! Also, if it is not a 3.5 Ecoboost engine the final drive will probably be different. You want to see 2 for the axle code on the Vehicle Certification (VC) Label.
What would you say is too much for both, not knowing the condition, still bolted together out of the car? Thanks!
I believe I can get them both for about $150.00.the ptu case has been known to crack on occasion, not many instances reported but theres that. i think due to internal pressure from blocked vent cap but idk.
transmission case integrity is usually compromised by a bad case seal as the case is a 2-piece system. no known (to me) instances of the case actually cracking/breaking.
so the lower the price you pay the better.
For car parts, that's as close to free as it getsI believe I can get them both for about $150.00.
