Has anyone with a 2010 - 2012 replaced this part? See attached for the one that's currently on my car. Does yours look like that?
Usually I can just call Ford, give them my VIN, and order the part, assuming they haven't marked it up unreasonably. When I first called, they gave me part # 8G1Z-9F945 -A, which is actually a vent solenoid. They didn't have it in stock so I picked up a Duralast PV515 at AutoZone and popped it in (under the car, near the gas tank). My car still struggles to crank after fueling so that obviously wasn't the part that I needed.
So I called back and the kid had no idea what he was looking for so I called another Ford dealership. This guy seemed pretty helpful, or so I thought. He went as far as to email me the part # I needed with my VIN # on the sheet (part # AA5Z-9G271-C). Out of stock and not available to order....his exact words. So I checked online and it seems to be discontinued. Calling all of the local part stores, most agreed that a Dorman 911-281 was the same part, I'd just have to reuse my old hoses (easier to install). So today, I popped out the old one and realized that the electrical connectors are different.
I cleaned up the top of my old part and in good lighting I could actually read the part # (9U5A-9G866-DC). So back to the interweb, and I find only a few results. There's one on Amazon with a Chinese name brand....nope. eBay has several OEM's for ~$15. I took the risk and ordered one. I hope I receive the right part!
My question is, what gives? I'm guessing somewhere along the line, Ford has discontinued this part and/or changed it, yet no one seems to have any documentation of the correct/current part number. Given the fact that they're so cheap on eBay leads me to believe that they're either not truly OEM or they're selling old stock of the discontinued part. If there's a new part, it would probably save me some headache down the road.
I believe the 2013-2019 models have a different part due to the changes in production but I'd be interested to know what part yours takes.
