My 2023 Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition Nite Pony is built and scheduled for delivery the week before Christmas. (Santa heard my Christmas wish!)

My 2013 SHO will be handed down to my daughter, who currently drives a 2013 Flex EcoBoost.

Congratulations. So what do you do if you have to drive a 800 mile road trip in a day? No jab trying for constructive conversation?
Seems most EV owners have to keep a second gas rig in reserve.

Some people don't live a lifestyle in which that's a occurrence or large chance of happening.

I borrow the SHO, of course!
Chances are slim.

Forgive the EV bashing in your excitement for a new ride thread and I’m sorry for piling on but I gotta ask...

What is the calculation in pounds of coal per mile?

Edit: Just looked it up, roughly just under half a pound per mile.

Well if you want to know the pounds of coal per mile, you need to first measure speed in furlongs per fortnight.

One pound of coal generates .89 kWh of electricity. From a quick search, the average EV uses .33 kWh per mile. So, maybe a third of a pound per mile. Now, if your electricity comes from natural gas, you’re looking at burning about three cubic feet per mile.

The math shows that in terms of energy usage, EVs get the equivalent of 5.6 mpg.

Exactly, because fuel / Energy system sources are energy transfer systems. Even if you have a nuclear reactor in your car. More steps more energy loss. Now where did I leave my Infiniti stones.

I have a Mach-E, don't let the haters hate about EV range. I did a 680 miles trip with two charge stops. The FCDC chargers are so fast that I went from 10-15% to 80% in 16min the first time and 18min the second time. The FCDC slows considerably at 80% and you pay by how long you are there so just unplug at 80%. I will say you will want (no.. need) a 240V charger at your house. The 110v charger takes 40+ hours to charge the car, its a joke.

The charger at home is my question. Does the price include a charger of your choice? Who pays for installation? Does it come with the vehicle? Fully charged when you take delivery? I can honestly say where I live, I haven't noticed any charge stations. But I'm not looking for them either.

I have a second estimate coming next Monday. The first, from my (ex) favorite vendor was $2500, for JUST the NEMA 14-50 outlet on a GFCI breaker and 25" of cable. I told him to leave my garage and never come back... and I cancelled my MVP subscription!
I'm expecting an estimate in the $1200 range, but I actually think it should only cost $600, with 4 man-hours labor.
My power company provides only an insignificant $150 rebate, and a small monthly credit if you let them control your charging plan.
Depending on what this installer offers I could still go with a hard-wired (50A continuous) circuit, or a NEMA 14-50 (40A continuous) outlet.
In all reality, as little as I drive (working from home) I could get by with the 120V charger, BUT WHY??
I was hoping to see either the ChargePoint Home Flex or JuiceBox on sale on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, but there were no obvious offers.
Perhaps, after the holidays I can pick up an Amazon warehouse return for cheap. I'm in no hurry, so I can take my time.
