So i got GH tune on my 2015 SHO I used 2gallons of E85 of a full tank of 93 and my level was -0.53 and when I just used 93 without the E85 it’s standing on -0.38 what number should it stand on or be in range around?? Also for every 5 gallons of 93 how much E85 should I add?

When I'm running my e30 tune the octane ratio is -0.96 and thats around e36.. I run it a little
heavy on the e.. If your getting e85 out of a tank there not the same.. If you use the same station test
the e85 for the level.. I usually run 2 gal to 3.. Do your self a favor and install a sensor its not that
hard to do and its piece of mind. Enjoy the Ride!!

What do you mean install a sensor?? The livewire TS+ isn’t accurate?? And also I had -58 when I used 3gallons of E85 with 15.5 gallons of 93gas. From what I understand I should be somewhere around 4.5 gallons of E85 and 14 gallons of 93? I don’t got E30 anywhere near me
He means an E% sensor not oar. Theres more than just fuel quality that dictates oar readings though.

Sorry i run 2 gal e to 5 gal 93.. I put 2gal e to 3gal 93 in a can to up my e content
when i go to the track.. I don't have the livewire, when i started running the e30 tune i was always
guessing.. The e sensor just makes it easy fill and drive after a few miles see how much you have..
Got it. I always thought 2gal of E85 on 10gal 93 then I was told 2 per tank which gave me -0.38 and when I did 3 per tank I was getting -0.58 and I was told that the 3 on a full tank is to much ( full tank is 18.6) which is why I was asking around cuz it just didn’t add up the numbers and what I was told by the guys at gearhead. They seem to usually know what they talking about but I’m this I had to questions it

Pump e85 is often not exactly 85% ethanol. Stations can vary dramatically. Depends on where you live but, legally, it can be as low as 50% in some places and still be advertised as e85. I've found a station that has consistent e80 and I go there exclusively, especially since I am on an e85 (actually e75) tune.
This is why ppl are saying to install an E Sensor... it will help you know where you sit with your fuel.
There is no understanding it... many have had perpetual OAR/knock issues with GH tunes. Invariably the blame gets placed on the fuel and the "fix" is to mask it with ethanol. The best way to keep happy and sane running GH is to just remove OAR and knock from your display

It’s either fuel or your car is creating some metallic noise somewhere and the KR sensors are picking it up. It’s not like the tune that works just fine on many cars reprograms itself like some AI KR monster. Most of the time it’s fuel, some times it’s because you need to fix something…
OP the problem with asking questions on the net is that you don’t know if your getting answers by people who have actual experience with the tune vs people who talk about others experiences and regurgitate it. With that said, you should always consult your tuner because the answer typically can be found in the data log.

I can chime in as I have GH e30 an ajp e30 each with all the same mods. the GH will show +7 kr and drop my oar to -39 or better with all the same on ajp my oar is -96 all the time with at best +.09 KR. imo each car is sensitive in it's own way. Matt knows of this problem but has yet to deal with it on our platform. He has a standard go to list of items and some get fixed by this. 1/3 do not and he has not willing to addresses it. I think his focus is on the newer stuff and rightfully so. I think a lot of it is his lower rpm load settings and this is his part of his trans shit parameters. GH has helped this platform is so many way and I have the turbos and IC. This is a huge help for all of us.

Very well stated. It ***** that it is so prevalent, because it really makes it difficult to put forth the energy to help someone with KR issues when they have the GH tune. OP may very well have a physical problem leading to an elevated OAR, but I believe the smartest thing to do is first rule out GH.
Some people need to learn that what works great on some cars is not guaranteed to work well on others or in different climates.
You, myself and several other members here have had heavy KR issues with a myriad of 93 octane flavors, all of which have been isolated to none other than the GH AO tune. There's also been a pretty good correlation between cold weather and KR, again specific to the GH AO. It has been discussed in countless threads. Note, between all the other tuners combined there has not been a single similar discussion that I know of in this forum.
Also take note on how the whole subject of this thread is working off the implicit presumption that the GH tune requires mixing fuel to be happy. When the **** fuel excuse has been muttered so many times that adding e85 is the de facto procedure for running an alleged pump gas tune, well, that really says all there is to say.

100% agreed. I have never used a tune from GH mostly bc I have been completely satisfied with AJP’s tuning. I personally don’t think AO makes any sense……other than it seems pretty clear it causes a slew of issues with false knock.
To the point where people were spreading lies that stiffer trans mounts made you slower……..how stupid can a person be? Reduced wheel hop makes you slower? What kind of shit is that to say? Oh wait a second……it was GH tuned customers saying that…….bc of false knock. Bc their knock sensors became “delicate” to try to figure out what octane they’re at. Needless to say this was a FB group claiming this. Clearly it wasn’t the trans mounts “making them slower”. After some choice words I was happily banned from that group ****! To me, that’s like winning an award!
I already removed myself from canned tunes with LMS. So I’ve already seen firsthand the massive difference of what tuning alone can do when you keep all your parts the same. Just switch tuners and wallah…..magic! I’m on a “canned tune” diet……indefinitely.
GH is a great company but not everything they offer is….AO is one of those….sounds good but really falls short of delivering smiles per gallon, especially for those that have to mix in E85.
If you’re GH AO tuned with high knock readings 3-4+ you should data log a 3rd gear pull 3500rpm and let it shift into 4th. Then flash back to stock and data log the same thing. If you have less knock on the stock tune then you’re GH AO tune is corrupt. Send that data log in with their AO data log and request a tune revision(s) until it’s fixed. If you have the same high knock readings as you do stock then it’s mechanical.
