Does anyone know if hissing from this vacuum connector is normal? Kinda messed with it a little. Took the tape off and didnt see any cracks or anything. Cant get the hissing to change any by moving it around. Im starting to think that its just the sound of the 90 degree connecter coming off the straight line.

No there should've be any hissing there. That's connected to the brake booster and leaking will cause a reduction in brake performance. There may be a crack in the 90* fitting which is why you couldn't get it to stop. So why is there tape wrapped there?

Its a ford thing i guess lol. All the tape does is hold the vacuum line to a hanger attached to the sway bar. Could zip tie it and get the same effect if I wanted. However im not sure there is a leak. Sounds like other sho owners have made mention of this. Or maybe its a problem area on these cars. Do you have this same car without a hissing noise right there? Thats kinda what i was hoping to hear. Most ppl probably wouldnt notice anyway. It isnt super loud. Im gonna replace it though just incase.

Mine doesn't have tape there and I don't recall seeing others that do either. Maybe the previous owner was trying to fix a problem? I don't hear a hissing noise either but gotta be honest...I haven't really paid attention to it. Obviously if it was loud enough to get my attention I would've noticed.

I've got a 2019 and "had" tape holding that vacuum connector - and the tape came loose so I took the tape off and put a small screw type "hose clamp" to hold it up.

Thanks. Ive seen several with tape there holdind the clips. It comes that way from Ford. Anyway the hiss was my concern. Do you hear anything on yours? Brakes work great. Car runs great. Im gonna replace it anyway i think. Know a good website to order from?

Its normal, i ran into this before also. Its just the sound of the vacuum flow through plastic piping and yes its pretty loud and sounds like a vacuum leak

If you want to spend the money on one like I did (didn't fix anything) you can go to ford and buy one.
Part#: fg1z-9c490-f
The part picture looks nothing like the actual part, spent way too much time getting it figured out, but that is the part number for that line WITH the correct 1 way valve.

The assembly itself is a vaccum on demand system that allows vaccum to the booster under instance where the intake is under vaccum. When the intake is under boost, the large check valves prevent the booster from poping and re routs the boost to the ejector (its a siphon) that uses the boost to creat vacuum. The ejector is part of the two check valves that rout to the intake tube. Those two check valves I would assume are supposed to prevent vacuum leaks. Good news with MAP sensor fueling, it can compensate with leaks well.

@gotgrip, I vagly remember your post on this. Im assuming yours had the same hissing noise too with the new part? I remeber bringing this up on your thread I thinks?

You ca eliminate the piece between the 2 check values and the intake will no problems.

Well you definitely know what your talking about... So should there be a hissing sound at idle coming from that connector? It sounds like alot of ppl have noticed it on there cars.

Ha! Somewhat/kinda?

My car hisses too. Some days its louder than others. Its been so long I can't tell you if mine didn't hiss.

I wish I could tell you if it is supposed to his or not. I was hoping GotGrip would respond for sure.

my option is that it shouldn't hiss if working CORRECTLY, but it may really just be normal.

Ah! Now I understand better. Thank you for the image.

You still have the main check valves back behind to prevent boost from going into the booster, but you have eliminated the ability of the system to create vacuum under boost or the possibility of the hissing noise!

I kinda just thought you ran a vacuum hose from the intake to the booster and was scared about what was happening to your booster under boost. I didn't really want to acknowledge that or condone it. If it works for you ok, but uh seems like braking may suffer if you got into it and then had to stop real quick.

running it this way for over a year and down the track a 100 times. not an issue. even brake boosting nothing changed.

That still makes sense because there is a larger check valves that holds vacuum in the booster and it also stops boost from reaching the booster. Speaking in general, if you turnnoff the car and press the brake pedal you usually have 1-2 presses before the brakes go hard. When you stall the torque converter you probably had your foot on the brake before the accelerator so the vacuum you used was replenished before you started stalling.

Again, thank you for the picture. Im more of a visual person then a read about it guy! I didn't understand at all.
