My son recently purchased a 1993 ATX and after all the info he sent me while we were searching for a decent car I learned a lot about this relatively unknown sleeper. I plan to help him and along the way learn a thing or two more about these cars. They seem to have a devoted following which I like especially when you need help or information, it's nice to have backup! Thanks

Welcome in! It's nice to see these cars still pulling people in.

My son was wondering why I became a member of the forum, he found out today that I actually bought a SHO for myself. I didn't tell him as I wanted to surprise him by switching cars, I purchased the same year and color but mocha interior instead of the gray like his car. The prank was too complicated to pull it off so we just had them over and I showed him the car hiding in my garage. When we were searching for his car I saw this one for sale in Florida, it was a one owner car with good maintenance history. The woman who owned it took great care of the car, decent mileage and no alterations at all. I thought after trying to get him to like cars that I had and that didn't work, maybe I'll try something he has. Hopefully we can hit some car shows together this summer and it will also give me something fun to drive during the summer.

As a new SHO owner I'm quickly learning some of its deficiencies. My HVAC control panel has some broken buttons which Ford didn't correct till 1995 if not mistaken. I need to find out how to replace that as I bought a new rebuilt unit with good buttons! Also seems like all my door panels flap when you close the door so I need to get more of those pins replaced. Had to make my own battery hold down too, I couldn't see how you could do it across the top. Here's final product.

If it is a Taurus and I forget other compatible units it should be plug and play. Alot of use swapped those out in the earlier cars back in the day. I think those hard button units started 92 or 93??

My early 94 ATX had soft buttons. Replacement is pretty straight forward, you have to remove the left side/center portion of the dash to get to the EATC. Its just screws and knobs that need to come off.

There is a vendor on ebay that sells the door fasteners, Pageauto1 Search for N801925S, a box of 25 for $9.48, I just realized I overpaid, they are other sellers with this part number as well

In the link below, the last post had a link to the ebay seller.

I just bought a couple of boxes of door clips and hood insulation retainers

Reconditioned EATC arriving tomorrow. I also had to replace the power antenna which didn't work. I found a new Ford Taurus old stock fixed mast with mount and cable on ebay. I'll use that for now and one day restore the power antenna. Ordered 4 new tires as the ones on there are date 2006, anything over 7 years in Mass. is a fail for inspection. Thanks for the door clip info, I'll order a bag of those as well. That pretty much covers the issues I found, overall I'm very pleased with the car's condition.
