Forscan and the sho /sync 2 to 3 upgrade

Was looking at car-part.com, and found a 2016 Lincoln MKS APIM and display with massaging seats, without nav for $250. Like everyone says, who needs nav when Waze and Google Maps are so much better!

Yea I don't see a real point in getting the NAV since I can use google maps. I tend to use my phone instead of the SYNC2 NAV in the car for the congestion info ect. now anyway. One thing I was wondering about google maps on SYNC3 is the new real time "speed trap" and "slow down" info that it gives out. Does this transfer onto the SYNC3? Is the android auto basically just casting my phone's google maps to the cars screen?

Waze is better for the police and speed trap info. Google does give you this in car, but its feet before the speed trap. And you dont get the option to add info like a speed trap from google maps. You can on waze.

You can run waze and google maps at the same time if you want. Or at least I think you still can

I am currently working on this and hoping to find more information. https://naviupgrade.com/ has been some great info. They list which screens cross over. They also show the difference between APIMs. I was able to source a screen and APIM from a 2019 Taurus SHO with Nav for $150 from https://www.car-part.com/. You need to make sure to get the recessed screen. I was able to get the adapter harness from NaviUpgrade for $20. I am now at the point have trying to figure out the FORScan mods. Do I just copy my .ab from my 2015 and load it to my 2019 APIM?

Yes, just copy the AB data from your old APIM onto the new unit.

Just an FYI...that all changed back in October 2019. Google maps has all the Waze functions integrated. You can see speed traps many miles before you reach them and also have the option to report traps, construction, etc.
