For a rarely as i drive my 15’ just says steering fault every time now and i can barely get it to steer. No codes when i tried to clear them. Reflashed my ajp tune and it didnt make a change.
What is the cause of this, also comes up with advance track fault? My 90 is so much fun that im thinking of cutting my losses and selling the 15’

Dropped it off at Ford at my PA house, ill be at my FL home for a few weeks. When i do get it to work is sounds funny when steering. Sorta the same noise a chicken makes at the junkyard when you trip over it. So i guess it just need a new steering rack. Ill update with what the fix was and the cost eventually

Ford called, said it needs a new rack. Diagnostics, allignment and new rack and install is 2600$. Reman rack is 2300$. I opted for the new rack

Had the rear toes fixed also under new recall, been alittle clunky in the rear for awhile and i guess i couldnt check it correctly at full drop when car lifted, had to lift car and then lift the control arm to check with pressure off the rear links.
Maybe the car will go alittle faster now.

Oh 19s17 Recall

How did you get your rear toes replaced under the recall? My local dealers tell me they do not have the forged replacements as of yet. Also I was advised that the recall only included PP SHOs. Please advise. Thank you.

Most taurus and explorers and police, my shop had a forged set. Picked up car today, he showed me where the weld was cracked on the right rear. Was told that the replacements are all one piece now instead of welded together

My bad, paper says 20s04 recall. I guess the 20 is for rim size, i dont know. Beats me, just reporting on what i was told. Figured id have them look at why i was seeing that issue while it was there. All fixed now i guess. Didnt clunk when i backed it into my polebuilding like it usually would. And its was free

That one ford tech made a video on it the other week, i just looked it up earlier today in my research to see why they were actually recalled. I didnt figure on it being the welds like my issue was. I guess his shop started to get parts. He shows the install on a sho.

That guy makes me think all ford techs are retards. He is click baity and annoying as ****. Now I remember why I do my own work.

I report all his videos as scam/false information. He doesn't give enough data to be credible IMHO.

That being said, his videos may help some people in very particular sets of skills.

Thanks for the video. It was informative as it showed (2] points of failure on the rear link. The presenter seemed ok to me. I can see how he could rub you the wrong way though. It’s all data to me.

All of his titles and thumbnails are designed as clickbait. Dont buy this! They don't want you to know! Danger! OMG! Then he makes the cliche stupid look face. And when u watch the video....he doesn't really seem to know much more than anyone who knows what Google is.

But I will say videos can be useful especially when muted or paused at certain places. Knowing points of failure wouldn't really help most people unless they are designing a new part.

After watching the video again... just be ready incase the rear does ever kick out on dry at highspeeds when braking. If it ever does, at least you know its a possible issue. Only way mine kicked out on dry is if i made in kick out like 90 degree low speed turns.
I also have a non pp, it onlys show pp and pi models on news sites. I didnt think those parts from pp to no pp would be different and the pp should have came with forged from factory if anything as it was promo’ed on tracks at highspeed.
I pretty much ruled Pittrace with my 13’ pp back in 2014-2015, knowing the issue now. I had many close calls at that track and other tracks to say.... i could of got kilt if it would have broke at a bad spot on the track

Hey folks, sorry to CPR a dead thread but it was the newest I found on search in the maintenance forum for this issue. My rack is not behaving nicely, it is switching in and out of power mode (power to manual to power, etc etc) and is a collective pain in the keyster to drive currently - especially when trying to turn the car around in a tight space! My local multi-purpose shop scanned it with Snap-on's deluxe scanner and reported no codes. I used Forscan Light from my android phone and found no codes on the car whatsoever. No CEL or other warning indications on the dash. Are there any module codes that a dealership can get that Forscan can't reach? My car is a police package and there's no difference I think between the cop rack and a regular SHO rack. Current replacement prices at a Ford dealership (if the rack appears to need swapping) are > $2,400. Reman racks are a bit less pricy, and a lower mile salvage yard rack is a outlier option for around $900 installed before dealer programming.

Reason I'm bringing this up as I've heard bits and pieces on other forums & sources that there is a programming revision available from the dealer that is supposed to cure this particular behavior in the electric racks. Anyone have any info on this? I'm not taking my car into a dealership except for the toe link recall if I can help it, I'm trying to clean up this recently-purchased car on a squeaky-tight budget and it's already in the transmission shop (unanticipated!) for a torque converter issue. So.. any savings helps!

Thanks
Eric
